Below you can find the newest update on Paris by fellow member Johnny Kilroy 4. Much props to him for taking the time to help us out on this - it's much appreciated!

Salut Ceddie ,
as I was in Paris , ten days ago , I had the chance to make a run to most interesting sneakers places in Paris . I remember you start the Paris sneaker guide , and although they were replies from my french fellas , all this was a little messy . So I took the time to make an updated sneaker guide , to help NTers that would eventually spend some time in the french capital . As you know , only mods can add replies to archive posts : so could you please post this in the paris sneaker guide ?

Rating is just based on the originality of the stores . Some are nice but offer the same thing as everywhere . Some are truly amazing and must be seen absolutely by any sneakerhead that is in Paris for few days .

Sneaker Stores in Paris

Paris has a damn fine selection of sneaker stores. Quite conveniently, most of the sneaker stores are concentrated in the Marais and Les Halles. As well as the small stores there are several chain stores in Paris. The chain stores worth checking are Courir, Athletes Foot, Decathlon and Footlocker. Courir always has exclusive colourways. Footlocker gets Euro exclusive colourways and whereas the UK Footlocker doesnt tend to stock sizes bigger than US12 in stuff like Dunks, they do in France.

A good place to start is Colette. This is the world famous ultra chic store/gallery that stocks clothing, books and has a bar that specialises in water! They always have a small, but interesting, selection of sneakers. From here its a pleasurable walk to Les Halles. This is a bit of a mixed area of town. While it certainly has a great selection of sneaker stores it lacks the charm that radiates through much of Paris. Its pretty seedy and dodgy in places. It is however home to one of my favourite sneaker shops - Eight.

Eight have a good range of the hard to find kicks. They occasionally have store exclusives (a few years back they had their own version of the Reebok Pump Fury in camouflage green with an Eight label on the tongue). Most recently they had an exclusive colourway of Hong Kong toy artist, Eric Sos Mask figures. On display is a superb collection of Jordans.

Directly around the corner is Sneakers Gallery. On from here is Rue St Dennis, which is pretty much a street full of porno theatres. Here youll find the Zoom Sports, which is packed full of sneakers - a definite must check. Also in Les Halles are Footlocker, Courir and Athletes Foot - all good. Basketball shoe fans should check out Sports USA, as this is their speciality. On to the Marais...

Marais means "the swamp". There are a couple of sneaker shops to be found here too. Two branches of What Size? and a place called Ozone. Ozone stock an interesting selection of vintage shoes. Last time I was there they had the Holy Grail of sneaker books, "Irreverence Justified" for sale; if only I hadnt spent all my Euros on fine food and sneakers!

I was just there on vacation and saw a few shops near me

2 Athletes Foot located near Victor Hugo Blvd.

1 mom and pops near the start of the Champs Elysees

Niketown paris(dont remeber the name of the area sorry)3 or 4 floors

2 mom and pops(with mostly imports) in the latin quarter near the notre dame

1 Chain store(didnt know name) right near the les sablon mettro stop

1 Chain store right near the Chicago Factory restraunt(sorry i forgot names of the street)

Sorry i couldnt be more specific........i couldnt understand a lot of it

OK - i'm gonna be in paris the beginning of September - are any of these shops in the St. Germain area?? I don't think i'll have a lot of free time to go sneaker shopping (planning on doing a lot of museums, sightseeing, eating, etc), but hopefully, if there's a few shops near the hotel, i can run there while the wifey is resting!!

All those stores are in the same area of Paris , and they are close to Le Louvres & Centre Pompidou in a borough called "Les Halles" , so I think it will be easy for you to make a little shopping , if you take your time to plan this with a map . Indeed all the stores are in the same area , but are in small streets and are hard to find : that's why I advise you to plan a tour .
Go there a working day , when people are at work and kids at school , in the morning or the early afternoon , and it will take you only 2-3 hours to find and visit the most interesting places .
For the Champs Elyses stores , wait the evening : you will be able to eat there and visit a few shops by night .

PS : Les Halles is an area between the 1st and 4th boroughs of Paris ( 1er & 2eme arrondissements in french = area codes 75001 & 75004 )

I've just visited some stores today. A few infos...
Athlete's Foot is closed in the 18th borough (in work). All the AJ XVIII at FootLocker Les Halles are still VERY expensive (190 Euros for the Black Low!!).
The NikeStore in Champs Elysees is very disapointing (at least to me). There is more stuff at FL or SportUSA!

Kilroy, do you know a place where we can find the AJ XVIII low at a more reasonable price?
