Since nobody wants to help out in the identity theft thread, does anybody know how you put a password on your wifi?

When I connected for the first time on my computer/iphone, I had to put in the password on the back of my modem.  That means I'm good, right?  Or is there another password?  I thought all modems were like that.

Call the tech support for the manufacturer of your modem and/or router.
They will walk you through step by step on setting up password for secure connection.

I don't know but I just googled it and there are plenty of tips.  This site is always helpful for me:  http://www.ehow.com/how_4...ss-network-password.html

I'd also make sure your wifi is "hidden."  I'm so paranoid that I still use/will continue to use a wired connection.

I have Verizon.  I'm not at home but it's one of those Westell models, like Westell 4200 or something.

same here...even though WPA is supposed to be tougher to crack, all it takes is some bored kid with time on their hands to crack it. I still see people using WEP and its basically pointless. Cracking WEP is effortless.

i think with verizon there is a whole manual that comes with a set of instructions that tells you were to log in then u have to create a verizon account and from there you should be able to get into the router settings

you probably have to reset it man.
i have one and forgot it, called att and they made me press reset button on the back and put in a new one

Awesome. I've been meaning to ask how to do it. Can I change the password and username as well? I am using a router I got from my roommate and I have no idea the password and username.

press and hold the reset on the back of the router, reboot the router, and plug directly into the router, hit the ip address http://192.168.1.1 or 192.1.1.1, default on linkysys is admin admin or blank blank, set it up
