Paypal Heads, Need Some Help

So a dude that bought something from me on ebay opened a buyer dispute on me saying the item i sold wasn't exactly as described. I wouldn't even know since i sold the item for my dad and he told me what to write in the description. When the dispute was filed against me i had already transferred the money to my checking account so it was already out of paypal. Now my paypal account is negative but its negative the amount of the buy it now price, not the amount i transferred out. Did i have to transfer the full buy it now price to paypal or the amount after paypal fees. Paypal took out 45 bucks from the price it sold for. I transferred the amount after paypal fees, not the selling price of the item. This whole thing is pissing me off especially cause it wasn't in my control, i didn't know anything about the item so i couldn't confirm what was in the description. Now i have to deal with all this %$!%$%#%. If anyone can help me out i'd appreciate it. Thanks.

EDIT: So the funds posted to paypal and it says its negative $45.98, should i transfer the rest over or will it go to the full amount? Thanks to anyone that helps.

I'm not completely sure I understand your question, but I'll try:

Paypal will put a hold on all the funds that you received from the transaction if the buyer files a claim (this is for an item not as described case, which is what it sounds like you have). The buyer then has to return the item to you (assuming that they win the claim... I don't know if you've even gotten that far, though). They have to provide tracking information to Paypal to show that the item actually was sent back/delivered (you should be able to see this when looking at the claim... whether the claim was started on Ebay or Paypal).

As far as your balance being negative, it will remain negative if you don't put any money into your account (or receive any payments). That money is on hold now... and if you lose the case, it will be be taken permanently (although, if you win, the hold will be taken off).

So, I guess to answer your question... Paypal has put a hold on all the funds that were associated with the transaction you have had a claim filed against you on (so that includes full price, shipping, Paypal fees, etc.). In order to get your balance out of the negative, you would need to transfer over whatever amount you are in the negative.

And by the way, Paypal takes their fees out automatically/immediately... so whatever money you received had already had the fees taken out of it.
