Perspective: 72 Wins

Just for a little perspective, the best few teams in the league have 9-10 losses. In January. The 72-win Bulls lost 10 games during the 1995-1996 season.

I don't see that record ever going down.

Nah, wouldnt have happened. Something like 24 or their first 26 games where at home. They will be/have been going on some long road trips the restof the season to even out the big home court discrepancy from the beginning of the season. The wouldnt have done it even if they were healthy. No hate, theyare a good team. But not a 10 losses all season, good team.

I do however believe that it could happen eventually. But I dont see it happening anytime soon.

Agreed, no way. The Bulls were something like 41-3 at one point. The Lakers would've had to won pretty much every one of their home games to have a shot atit, and that's just a lot to ask of any team.

I think what will be even harder than breaking 72 wins is averaging 70+ wins over a span of two seasons, like the 95-96 and 96-97 Bulls (69 wins) did. Idon't think we'll be seeing that ever again.

And yeah, people need to shut up with the "Can they beat 72-10" until there are about 20 games left in the season and a team might beat it. I feellike slapping the guy asking this question every time I see someone ask it about some hot team that starts 17-1 or something. The 05-06 Pistons came theclosest for people to ask can they beat 72-10 legit. They were 37-5 at one point, more than halfway through the season and were actually on the way to beat72-10 from a mathematical point of view, but in the end they didn't even come close and finished with 64 wins.

yup, and yet every year on NT after a month we have "can they beat the Bulls record?" threads pop up

With the length of the season, the back-to-backs, the not taking certain teams seriously, the injuries, etc it's going to take a perfect storm for ateam to get to 72+ wins again.

Plus with the Bulls that season each game they played was like the other team's Super Bowl

You actually had players giving 110% trying to beat them and fans goingabsolutely crazy......unlike most regular season ball.

I hope it stands forever, because that team was so special. They were 42-5 at one poont, clinched a playoff spot in January, and were just a traveling rockband basically.

I remember getting a book for Christmas that detailed every win of that season straight through the playoffs w/all the box scores and stats.

There's just to many of those "teams" like the bobcats, warriors, etc. who aren't playoff contenders but can beat any team. It will never bebroken.
