To be fair, if you look back as last year's Lakers they had a decent shot. There weren't too many games that they were not in. They lost really closegames that came down to a final possession or two to Indiana, Miami, Orlando (twice), San Antonio, Charlotte, Utah and Philly. That's eight losses out oftheir seventeen losses right there. Of course you could say they got lucky with some of their other wins too though.

Right. There were no Celtics fans talking about the possibility when they signed Ray and Garnett. Nope, just Lakers fans.

Ska, nt has really turned you into a cynic or you are just more comfortable showing your true colors these days.

I am well aware that there was a buzz for awhile from Celtics fans, but thatnoise vanished. It's you Lakers fans (not all of you) who are consistently vocal about breaking the record.

Nah, I'm just sick of always... and I mean the word 'always'... seeing people bash Lakers fans without even thinking about any other possibility tothe crap they're saying.

Like dudes complain about Lakers fans being ghost after a loss when it's simply not true, and I've proven it in threads by quoting Laker fans after aloss who were also replying after wins.

Dudes on Christmas were complaining about Lakers fans blaming the refs for that loss and I quoted MAAAAAAAAD responses from Lakers fans saying 'Goodgame', AND blaming the Lakers, AND crediting the Cavs. But there was still merit to the claim 'Lakers fans complaining about the refs again'? Yeah,maybe because 1 or 2 were, but not all of us overall.

Hell, I could find a couple Cards fans that think the Lakers have had chances to win 72. In fact, I'm'a do that. I'm'a find a couple St. LouisCardinals fans that think the Lakers have had chances to win 72, and everytime the topic comes up, I'm'a throw out there 'It's always thoseannoying StL Cardinals fans that say this crap.

And I'd be right, because there were Cards fans that said that. Who cares if it was only 2? That's enough for me to continuously, perpetually,incessantly, and frequently whine and moan about, right?

Bottom line, the Lakers fanbase on here is solid when you look at us objectively. Just gets old when I go into a thread predicting who will complain about theLakers/Lakers fans/Kobe fans, what they will say... and then be right.

Whenever your defend the Lakers fanbase, I have to take into account that you speak from a nt pov. You live in Kentucky right? You know that Ilive in Los Angeles and have a lot more exposure to Laker fans than you ever will. My comment was based from the hundreds of Lakers fans I interact with on thenorm. To me NT doesn't reflect an entire fanbase. A majority of the Lakers fans I know say that the Lakers will be the team to beat that record, hence myinitial reply. Take a deep breathe ska, sometimes you get so vexed on here.

Next thing I'm going to be told is that there are TONNNNS of Boston fans in Boston who think the Celtics could eclipse or equal 72.

Or that there are MAAAAAD Cavs fans in Cleveland who think LeBron > Jordan.

I just don't believe this 'There are Lakers fans all over L.A. who think the Lakers could eclipse 72' talk that you're trying to sell me. Thatjust sounds way too unbelievable.

had reggie not hurt his eye before the first round and missed the first 4 games of that series, the pacers beat atlanta and orlando and perhaps give the bullsa decent challange in the ecf that year.

I think there is a good chance of a team winning 70+ games in a season again.

The Mavs, Celtics, Cavs and Lakers have all come close in recent years. Why couldn't another team win 70+ games when we've just seen those 4 teamsfinish with 65-67 wins?

but i dont think its crazy to think that it could be broken. in sports, anything can happen. who knows how the league will shift, or if talent gets watereddown, or if one team is just truly dominant over another.

or what if one day there is no salary cap?

a couple of teams have gotten near 70 wins, so that leads me to believe that it can be broken.

Three of their losses they didn't have Dennis Rodman.. And they lost those games by 6, 5 and 1 point. Had Rodman been playing those tree games, they wouldalmost certainly have just 9 losses, probably 8 and maybe just 7 losses all year.

Yeah, Indiana beat them twice and they split the season series against them, but the win of the season that showcased the power of the 95-96 Bulls team morethan any other game came against the Pacers:

Jordan: 44 points, 7 assists, 3 steals & 2 blocks
Pippen: 40 points, 10 rebounds & 5 steals
Rodman: 23 rebounds

Another thing that is special about the 95-96 season is how wet Jordan's jumper has been that season. He was abusing cats with jumpers (see the Stackhousegame). He shot 43% from the 3-point line even though he attempted 3+ three pointers per game. He was hitting 3s and long 2s like they were nothing, and so manytimes nothing but net. You could easily make the claim that Michael Jordan was the best pure shooter in the league this particular season.

i really really REALLY hope he was being sarcastic cause i spent 4 years in the socal area for college and i have come to the conclusion that Lakers fans insocal are BY FAR the WORST fans of any sport. i hate ALL OF THEM!!!
the lakers can do no wrong, Kobe is the second coming of Jesus Christ and they stick up for farmar/sasha/mbenga/younamethebumonthebench. i HATED watching lakergames out there but LOVED when pheonix royally ISHED on them in that one series...
