Just more amusing than anything, especially since the Mets reported about the whole stealing signs ordeal a while back but apparently its been picking up since the Rockies recently complained about a guy in the bullpen with binoculars stealing signs and calling the dugout to relay the info.

Hey, if you're gonna complain then just change your signs around, but a dude with binoculars in the bullpen is just shady.

Stealing signs is part of baseball though, usually with a man on 2nd though but thats something a catcher would be aware of since he can view the player on the field and change signs accordingly.

Yeah what Mauer did is classy, as well as stealing them from the dugout. When you're chilling in the bullpen with binoculars, nah, that's disrespectful.

The Philadelphia Phillies have won back-to-back NL pennants and were World Champions in 2008. 

They have a talented roster, but is there more to their success than talent? 

Major League Baseball issued a warning to the Phillies on Tuesday concerning accusations that bullpen coach Mick Billmeyer was stealing signs during Monday night’s game against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.

"We have looked at the video and talked to the Phillies about the actions of their bullpen coach,’’ a Major League Baseball official told FOXSports.com. 

"We found the evidence inconclusive on what was being done, but we have spoken to the Phillies about the situation, and the umpires have been told to be on full alert as to what is going on.’’

The Rockies are the second team that's filed a complaint about the Phillies, according to a source close to the situation. It's believed the New York Mets made a similar accusation after the Phillies knocked around Mets left-hander Johan Santana on May 2.



 

The incident in Colorado was brought to light during the telecast of the Rockies-Phillies game on Monday night by FSN Rocky Mountain, which showed that with the Phillies hitting in the top of the second inning, Philadelphia bullpen coach Mick Billmeyer was using binoculars to look in at Rockies catcher Miguel Olivo.

The video also showed Phillies center fielder Shane Victorino in the dugout on the bullpen phone.

The Phillies claimed that Billmeyer was evaluating the Philadelphia catcher, according to a source, although the evidence wouldn't support that claim; Billmeyer was using the binoculars during the top of the second hitting, when the Phillies were hitting — which means Miguel Olivo of the Rockies was the catcher.

OK I meant bullpen, not really worth quoting me 3x.

...and how is THIS done "legally" if you will? Stealing signs are done all the time but when you have guys in the bullpen calling the dugout to relay information, then that's just not classy at all.

Im so sick of that Mauer video. Anyone who has the slightest bit of common sense knows that there was ZERO sign stealing in the video. He even said in an interview there was NOTHING going on.

For the record, sign stealing is NOT cheating, and is a common part of baseball. The binoculars are OD though.

He tapped his right ear 4 times and each time Verlander delivered a breaking ball. And every time he didn't touch his ear, with exception to one time where Mauer most likely missed the sign, Verlander threw a fastball. Now if you don't think that's suspicious and warrants the conspiracy the Mauer tipping pitches to Kubel, then I don't know what to tell you.

“Somebody maybe ought to check the Mets if they did that.  Their [bleeping] home record is out of this world and they’re losing on the road.  Sometimes that’s a good indicator of getting signs and [crap].  I see somebody setting there at 17-2 at home and 4-12 on the road, I’d get concerned about that.  That kind of crosses my mind… I’m not accusing them, but you look at that and – damn.
