The Google Nexus Q might be good enough for your garden-variety home media sharing for video, pictures, and music, but gamers will want to keep their eyes on a new Kickstarter project called Ouya. It aims to be an open Android-powered gaming console that retails for $99. One of the main goals is to provide a home platform that's free from the big-money competition and publisher pressures that plagues traditional console gaming and keeps hip indie devs away. Here's a spec rundown on the Ouya.

Tegra3 quad-core processor
1GB RAM
8GB of internal flash storage
HDMI connection to the TV, with support for up to 1080p HD
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth LE 4.0
USB 2.0 (one)
Wireless controller with standard controls (two analog sticks, d-pad, eight action buttons, a system button), a touchpad
Android 4.0

There's a reason I'm gonna buy the new Xbox for 400 dollars. Cause it will be worth 400 dollars. Why would I spend 100 dollars to play minecraft on my tv.

Gaming consoles are going the way of dinosaurs though. Mobile taking over.

Not really, but keep thinking that.

How would you even come to this conclusion? based on what?

Oh? Hence why console game sales have been smashing records?

Sarcasm. I find it funny Google is making their foray into the gaming console industry while also trying to lock down the mobile market.

Uh, not really... Android is open source, it can be used on any compatible hardware. The Ouya guys are putting Android on their hardware, Google's not involved at all.
