Places to visit/food to eat in Chicago?

My family's planning a trip to the Midwest next month, so we're probably gonna hit up Chicago for the first two nights (before headin to Michigan, Indiana, and maybe Toronto).
What are the best places to get deep dish pizza and the Chicago hot dog?
What other tourist attractions are there that are worthwhile besides say, Magnificent Mile and stuff.
I don't think I'll be able to really experience the nightlife cuz I'm goin with my family, so I guess more along the lines of nice places to see, cool things to do, etc.
