Please LOCk

... except I am a Lakers fan, and I don't understand excusing Davis for missing the playoffs 7/10 times in the 90s and 7/10 times in the 00s.

And I'm not going to get into the business of trying to evaluate Jerry Buss and AD against each other. Both were incredibly important to their leagues and will forever be revered.

This.

AJ acts like the Raider Nation all of a sudden stopped liking Al Davis. We love Al. We loved him spending and buying whoever he wanted. Unfortunately, that stopped working. When something doesn't work, you adjust or fall flat.

The Raiders fell flat.

Dude everyone but the garbage makes the NBA playoffs. NFL not so much.
If you think success was never ever beating Malones Jazz, Hakeems Rockets or Jordan's Bulls in the playoffs then ok I guess we were good with Elden Campbell,Van Exel, Jones, Ceballos and an old Divac.
Don't get me wrong I liked those guys but come on man...seriously

Dude...

Making the playoffs six times over twenty years is terrible. There is no way you can spin that as being anyone else's fault but Al's. Every time we where jobbed when we got to the playoffs (don't forget Tony Siragusa's fat *** sitting on Gannon and effectively ending our run), we failed as a team to prepare for the future. Our streak of ineptitude is historic, and that weight is placed firmly on AD's lasting legacy, as unfortunate as that is.

Mitchell signs with Carolina
Free agent safety Mike Mitchell says he's agreed to terms on a 1-year deal with #Panthers. Will compete w/ DJ Campbell and H Nakamura at SS.

wow mitchell left.  who we got at safety, branch and??

and i hope we don't try the ZBS again.  we couldn't run to save our lives last year.

I think they're done as far as ZBS goes. They'll showcase McFadden if they have no intention on doing a long term deal.

I was hoping they got Mitchell to stay. Carolina must have really offered a few mil more or something. I still think Mitchell has good potential. They might be offering s lot more clock too.

really need to look at a free agent WR and Tightend and then draft one each as well. Any of these guys will do

Steve Breaston

Austin Collie

David Nelson

Titus Young

Visanthe Shiancoe

Chris Cooley

Da'Rick Rogers

Justin Hunter

Robert Woods

Terrence Williams

Gavin Escobar

Levine Toilolo

This is an embarrasing offseason. Is our cap situation back to normal next offseason?

Get ready....Mckenzie is in charge. Its gonna be like this for a long time.

We are trying to build a winner organicly not by aquisition LOL
Since so many dynasties across sports have been built that way LOL

this 49ers team that has been 1 of the best teams in football was built through the draft

Aldon Smith
CK7
Gore
Willis

most of their core is from the draft.

WHY IS THAT SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND?

YOU BUILD THROUGH THE DRAFT!!!!!

^I can't tell if you're being sarcastic, but in the NFL, that's kind of how dynasties ARE built: drafting well, progressing players, and implementing good schemes.

Think of the great teams of the late:

The Pats - great front office and coaching staff, franchise players acquired through drafting, fill in holes with players who fit the scheme

The Packers - great front office, franchise players (on both sides of the ball) acquired through the draft, fill in holes with players who fit the scheme

The Falcons - great front office, franchise players (on both sides of the ball) acquired through the draft, fill in holes with players who fit the scheme

The Niners (as of late) - great front office and coach, great drafts, blah blah blah, you get the point

Lol I had to put ol boy on ignore. Nobody wants to go back to Al Davis handing out fat *** contracts to mediocre players.
Nobody from the 2009 draft is still on our roster :x:x:x recipe for disaster.

Random thoughts:

I'm hyped to see how Streater will improve next year. Dude has HANDS.
I hope D-Moe is more focused next year, he looked out of it at times, but I like the Moore/Streater/Criner/Ford set we have going.
I don't think Ford is anything more than a punt/kick returner who can't catch tho, I hope McKenzie finds another gem like Streater through the draft.
Hopefully Criner is working hard to become the 3rd receiver next year.

Only players from our defense before McKenzie took over are Houston and Branch, I love it.
All we need to do is get some pass rushing, cornerbacks and a safety and I think our Defense will be much improved.

Players left from the pre McKenzie era:
QB: Palmer, Pryor
RB: DMC, Jones, Reece
WR: Ford, Moore
TE: Ausberry, Gordon
OT: Veldheer, Barnes
OG: Carlisle
C: Lil Wiz
DL: Houston
DB: Branch
ST: Condo, Janokowski

* I think Kelly and McClain are gone as well as Lechler

Like a month ago I thought the Raiders would struggle to win 2 games, now I think they can win 5-7 LOL
2014 is the season I hope everything pays off, but I'm looking forward to seeing how these young players evolve and grow next year.

BUILD THROUGH THE DRAFT, IN REGGIE WE TRUST #RAIDERNATION

Trying to project the 53 man roster for next year:

QB: Palmer, Pryor
RB: DMC, Stewart
FB: Reece
WR: Moore, Streater, Criner, Ford
TE: Ausberry, Gordon
T: Veldheer/Barnes
G: Carlisle/Brisiel/Bergstrom/Nix
C: Lil Wiz/Parsons

DEFENSE:
DL: Houston, Hunter, Crawford, Bilukidi, Sims, Walker
LB: Burnett, Buriss, Roach, Maiava
DB: Adams, Francies, Branch, Ross

ST:
Condo, Janikowski, King

That's 36 players, fill the next 17 thru draft picks, UDFAs and whatever is left of the free agency department.
There are a lot of players I left out and like 5-10 of these guys I listed might not even make the squad but whatever :lol

Hopefully he can stay healthy this year.

Still need:
1 more QB, RB, WR
A starting TE
Better offensive lineman (namely RT, but better guards wouldn't hurt)
Pass rushers (OLB/DEs)
A LOT of secondary help. (starting FS, altho I think Ross will end up as the starter), CB depth. I'd be down to resign Hanson, he played ok in the nickel spot last year.

I really wanted them to try and get Fred Davis. Looks like the Skins are trying to do a deal though.

I would be happy with a Brandon Lloyd, Domenik Hixon or Ramses Barden pickup. Preferably Lloyd.

Corners I'd be happy with Grimes, Nnam, Jacob Lacey or Hansen again. Maybe a few of those guys.

Here is my list of free agents. We should look at to fill out our roster. Most could be signed for a reasonable price.

WR
David Nelson
Mohamed Massaquoi
Laurent Robinson

TE
Chris Cooley
Fred Davis

OL
Kevin Boothe
Matt Slauson
Jammal Brown

LB
Victor Butler
Brad Jones
Larry Grant

CB
Rashean Mathis
AJ Jefferson
Tacy Porter
Brent Grimes
Nnamdi Asoumgha

FS
