What are people's thoughts on Adam Jones(formerly known as Pacman)?

Or kenny phillips?

I believe they are both to be free agents.

Pacman is a no-go, I feel. Reggie has stressed his concern about having high character guys before and those in the know with him have also made clear that he's not interested in problem characters.

Kenny Phillips would have fit the free-agent model that Reggie used last offseason, which was getting players with previous injuries and hoping they panned out. It didn't quite work this year, and with more money available to him I think he'll try to eschew away from that strategy.

As a Raiders fan living in Hawaii I hope that the new Davis can get something done to stay in Oakland.

Im not entirely opposed to a move to LA, but the renders of Farmers Field are just gross. Doesn't say Raiders when you see it.

Haha. In our season thread I brought up how nice it would be for the new stadium to be Raider-themed. Colored black, with some pirate stuff around. Better than Tampa Bay's :smokin

And by the bay like Jack London Square :eek :hat

A stadium that's all black on the outside would be so

kind of like the LASALLE College of Arts

I want something with a retractable dome. Straight all black. So when seen from above it legit looks like a black hole.

I wonder if temperature would be an issue with a black stadium. Maybe silver seats inside, black outside? I have no damn clue :lol

Honestly, they can't let it happen. They already lost the Warriors. The A's are trying to get things together so they can go.
Part of me feels that the Rams or the Jaguars are going to be the ones to go to LA.

The Jags are a no go they got a new owner who has already committed to the city of Jacksonville....He has the city all amped up and he is giving Nike 100% control to redo they logo and uni's he said he wants the Jags to be the Oregon of the NFL

I think the Chargers took themselves out of the running for LA as well. That leaves the Raiders and... the Vikings? Did they figure out their stadium situation officially?

How about the Rams?

Rams also need a new stadium. After building the new Cards' stadium I wonder how open St. Louis is to fund another stadium. That's the thing with franchises who are not doing well: their leverage is less than it would be if they were competitive and drawing in more fans.

This is the reason that the Raiders are closing off Mt. Davis, I think. Instead of claiming sell outs by buying out a ton of tickets themselves, the organization is closing off a huge section of the stadium and lowering the price for the third deck. That almost assures sell outs in the smallest venue in the NFL by a large margin. There's more leverage when negotiating with the City of Oakland when you can demonstrate that you've sold out your stadium for 2+ seasons and you're fed up with a terrible environment.

I agree.

On April 18, 2012, after a Minnesota Legislature committee rejected a public financing proposal for the proposed new Minnesota Vikings stadium, the league met with Vikings owner Zygi Wilf and Minnesota governor Mark Dayton to discuss the potential sale and relocation of the Vikings franchise.[26] Soon after, Wilf met with Los Angeles mayor Antonio Villaraigosa regarding the same topic, and indicated he would not renew the Vikings' lease on the Metrodome without a plan for a new stadium.[27] After a re-vote, the Minnesota House passed a stadium financing bill on May 8, albeit with less money than the Vikings were seeking.[28] The Senate passed the bill May 10, at which point the Vikings indicated they would be willing to accept the terms. This effectively eliminated the Vikings from the threat of relocation.

its wiki so take it with a grain of salt

looks like Vikings are getting a new stadium in Minnesota

(heard its gonna be a outside NON retractable roof stadium to embrace the cold of Mid West football)

That division Vikes, Bears, & Packers all out side :{

It makes sense, though. If half of your division is going to be playing outside, they possess that advantage over you if you don't. Playoff games in your home stadium become that much more daunting when your opponent comes from the sunny west coast. Also, in the event that the Super Bowl is ever played in an outdoor setting again, a potential cold climate would not concern them.

For the stadium deal to work, The City of Oakland has to get its **** together

And that is why I feel the Raiders are the favorite to go to Los Angeles. Quan has been a terrible mayor for Oakland, and I doubt her and her administration are competent enough to put together a deal that is fair to the public and is satisfactory for the Raiders. Oakland has been without a qualified mayor who supports local teams for so long now, there's little hope that it will change anytime soon.

Mt. Davis was such a terrible idea. The damn thing was built for the Raiders in the first place and now they aren't even using it.

What's Mt.Davis?

See where the stadium is raised in the top-middle? That was built in 1995 to convince the Raiders to leave Los Angeles and return to Oakland. It contains more seats, club seats, a bar and some other **** that Al Davis wanted. It was built purely to satisfy the Raiders and ruined what was considered at the time one of the better ballparks for baseball.

This was the Coliseum before Mt. Davis

I didn't know that but always thought the stadium looked weird when I saw the A's play. They opened those seats when they made the playoffs right?

A's policy is to have it tarped even during playoff games. If/when they make the World Series, MLB wants the tarps off.

The stadium before Mt. Davis was a thing of beauty. I remember as a kid growing up going to A's games on warm summer days/nights, with a view of the Oakland hills in the background. Was a great place to watch a game. I know the Coliseum is old, but Mt. Davis ruined a great place to watch a game.

Edit- Woops. Didnt realize this was the Raider thread and not the A's thread. My bad.

It essentially shared the same design of Dodger Stadium, both having awesome views. Dodger Stadium remains a good stadium, too.
