I keep hearing females use this word quite frequently. Can somebody explain the meaning to me? All I know is that it its some sort of artsy/scene term.

1. Associated with the upper classes.

She talks with a posh accent.

2. Stylish, elegant, exclusive (expensive).

After the performance they went out to a very posh restaurant.

3. Snobbish, materialistic, prejudiced, under the illusion that they are better than everyone else. usually offensive. (especially in Scotland)

We have a right posh fart moving in next door

It's an old word - English in origin (as in country, not language) and means someone that likes the finer things in life - but almost in a derogatory way -like being overly concerned about appearances.

Supposedly the origin is Port Out Starboard Home - meaning the side of the boat people had cabins on for a cruise. I'm not sure why that makes a difference- probably the sun on a certain side of the ship or something.

posh doesn't means upscale like someone suggested.

it mean egregiously stylish, or "over the top"...posh in a nutshell

is tap water from a project faucet sold in elegant 20oz bottles with white gold tops for $60.

...just cause.

a night club with $100 cover, a female that wear sun glasses at night...a fur coat in july.
treating someone inferior, swag turned all the up...98% of nt'ers when they say "cool story bro"
