Just got a MacBook and Im still kinda learning...how the hell do I get new Icons and actually apply them to my desktop? Any help is appreciated

Icons = CandyBar or you can just copy and paste them in the "get info" windows of the icon, and the application/folder you're applying the iconto.
You can get icons at Deviantart, interfacelift, MacThemes2, aaaaaaaaaaand............that's where I get mine.

So my candy bar trial ran out and didn't feel like looking for another version and just used the copy/paste for icon switches. Whenever I use some programsand close them or whatever, the old icon will pop back up. What gives?

no. mac icons are .icns is the icon format for those, which vista cannot read.
but if anybody knows a trick way to do it, enlighten me please.

You could search for an Icon Converter, I guess.....I don't use them, so just Google it.
