@ Liefeld. He was definitely part of comic youth when I got in to it by reading something like X-Force but he's terrible when you see better artists.I gotta say I like Ross but to me painting kind of waned for me. The coloring gets dull for me and isn't vibrant enough, specifically when it's a 30+ page issue I have to read. I prefer his art work when it's not painted with those more life like colors like when they're colored by someone else.

No artist captures the "human emotion" of superheros like Ross.

I collected back in the 90's but stopped pretty early also. My favorites were Jim Lee doing X-Men and Todd McFarlane doing Spiderman.
And J. Scott Campbell for practically making comic porn in those days with Gen 13. I love his fairy tale series that he did not too long ago:
