Put in about 2 weeks on this paper: comes back a B+

It was poetic as hell too! It had flow.

There's 4 papers in the class: I got 2 B+'s so far.

How do I get over the hump and hit the A plateau?

I spoke to tutors they said take the passive voice out my essay...

I really think it's impossible. There's like 5 students who score A's on paper. I spoke to the highest; he said he wrote it last minute

like boosting their own ego's

Take classes where you grade is based on a scale of how everyone's work is compared to yours then complain. You can get a 91 and still end up with a C because if your 91 is in a 40 percentile relative to everyone else you are still screwed. I have a few professors who grade like this.

that is still a B+

I don't know if you are an over achiever looking for sympathy or you are just trying to show off?

what? it's wrong to aim for an A now? %*@%.

anyhow, why dont you talk to him personally instead listening to the tutors?

how did you get that from what I wrote?

This fact comes back time and time again. Amount of time studying/working on something does not mean much compared to the actual quality of your work.
Some people can run this shh last minute. It's just about understanding what it is your professor wants. Also in some cases they may have the brown nose lol.

Irony?

'Cause I'll be damned if I stress my self out over a B+. I understand you work hard, but getting a B+ as opposed to an A HARDLY seems like grading unfairly.

Plus it's writing. No matter how well you think you did, it's subjective.

Try living in the library for a whole semester to just BARELY pass a BIO class.

I went to a top 25 school, no grade inflation whatsoever.

Also to add something to your thread, do either of your TA's review/give advice on papers before you submit them? If so, try running by a rough draft through them before you submit a final copy to the professor.

I'm about to send him an e-mail about it. This is my second email to him about grades.

Ya'll don't appreciate your work hard. When you work hard, you work towards a goal. Which is an A. Not B's.
B's is like "

You're work is okay."

You know damn well the kid that got the A probably spent a month on it

I wouldn't come off as angry in your e-mail.  I would phrase it as "wanting to get together and review mistakes in the paper I just received back while looking for guidance on how I can improve my performance on the next paper I submit".  That way if you follow his suggestions for improvement, he will almost be forced to increase your grade on your next paper.  I would also reccommend not JUST setting up meetings with him to discuss grades.  Set up meetings with him to discuss topics brought up in class, opinions on your assignments, and things you see/hear outside of class that relates to his/her teachings.  This will make a much better impression on your professor than just strictly setting up meetings to try and boost your grade.  You will indirectly be doing it this way.

what's worse is professors who are vague as shh in their final study guide. Like my International Relations professor she wants us to know all the hundred something terms in one of our books and all of the main points of each chapter in all of our books. To make everything worse she couldn't even make at least one part of the final multiple choice and the whole thing is essay format.

Most of my computer science professors could barely speak english and almost none of the stuff they covered in lecture were on the tests
