So I was playing MW2 this morning, and after a special ops mission I did PLAY AGAIN, and then the screen just went black. So i turned of the PS from theback and turned it back on. Now it wont read any of my games or movies. It turns on but just doest read anything. When I load the games or movies the bluelight comes on but nothing shows up on the screen.

Called Playstation and they talking about $149 to have it seviced since its more than a year old. Has this happened to anyone? The ps3 still cuts on but Inotice down by the HDD yellow indicator there is also like a blue light is on, never noticed before ( never really paided attention to it)

ANY HELP PLEASE

its looking like RIP...because I refuse to pay ( more like I dont have the money) 149 to get it serviced when i paid 400 for it, and now they're only like300

You get 3 years of warranty for the red ring and E74 error message. plus they send you a free one month of XBL if you get it serviced

sounds like the ylod. The same happened to me, the bad part is that even if you pay them the $149 it will happen again in the next couple years. The best betis to sell it for parts and get the slim. sorry

My PS3 plays games and blu-ray movies for a little bit then it freezes up. I tried to restore the file system and restore to default settings and it stillfreezes up. It started to happen after it forced me to update the firmware to 3.01 so that I could play Ratchet and Clank.

I had the same problem the disk reader is broken try playing a DVD if that's broken then you gotta get a new ps3 rip dude

Here's how I fixed mine.

- turn off the PS3 (switch on the back)
- Unplug it and plug it back in.
- Turn on the switch on the back of the PS3.
- Hold down the power button until you hear 2 beeps. (i guess this resets the PS3)
- If you do it right, screen should pop up and will ask you what kind of video connection the PS3 is detecting, (HDMI, Composite, etc...)
- Select you desired settings and you should be fine.

That happened to me last year just a month after the warranty expired. I had to pay for the service which took about a week. No choice for you but to eitherfix it or just cop the slim.
