PS3 or Xbox 360...VOL. Late to the party

So with all the e3 news this week, im actually interested to get back into gaming...I had a 360 but it got the 3 red rings and i never replaced or fixed it...the last game i played on it was Skyrim

I know the PS4 is a couple of months away from launch but i dont plan to get it probably until next year...plus its not backwards compatible at the moment...

I am also interested in blu ray..so ps3 has the upper hand

also want to use it to watch netflix and possibly my own video files in mkv format :nerd:

Any help/suggestions?
 
get a new ps3

They're relatively cheap now

In my opinion, I'd buy current gen console based on the next gen console that I'm going to buy.

So if I were you and I wanted to get a ps4 in the future, I'd buy a ps3 now.

Vice versa for the 360.

Biggest advantage each console has:

ps3: free online multiplayer

360:cross game chat

This is a real bad question to ask. Xbox has its own great exclusives while PS3 does as well. Both consoles have pros and cons.

I'm not sure if you want to play online, but you do have to pay for the Xbox. With consoles right around the corner I'd go PS3 if I were you.

get the one your friends play. if youre looking for a console for gaming, then figure out who you want to play with.

personally, i enjoy my xbox a lot more as a gaming console than my ps3.
 
I think im leaning towards the ps3...i cant think of any games besides gears of war and halo that are exclusive on xbox that i cant play on ps3...
 
Ok so i decided that i will get a ps3

My nephew has an xbox so i could play gears of war/halo on his...or i could have my og 360 fixed...

Another exicting question...which version should i purchase?...the slim or the backwards compatible ps3?

Just get the slim, since it's newer and has more hd space.

You're going to be taking a huge risk if you buy those really old backward compatible ps3s.

Then just guy a ps2, if playing ps2 games is something you want.
