Free games. Awesome. There’s a catch, though.

SCEE’s announced that anyone who signs up for a year-longPlayStation Plus membership, beginning today and ending October 5, willget a free copy of Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty to keep.Forever.

The game was released as a PSN title in 2008, although did get asmall-scale Blu-ray release soon after. It was developer Insomniac’sthird PS3-developed title at the time.

Sony’s also announced the line-up for the service for the next twomonths. This month sees an hour-long full game trial of Warhawk andOddworld: Abe’s Odysee come included.

And in October, there’s Gravity Crash and more.

Oh boy.

Sega’s opened up a teaser site for something which looks a lot like Valkyria Chronicles III. The site has something “not to be opened till 9.16″.

Funnily enough, that just so happens to be the first day of Tokyo Game Show. Who would have thunk it.

It was discovered last week the publisher had registered the URL “valkyria3″.

We’ll email Sega on it, but we really do hope this is a real thing:the original VC on PS3, which introduced a combined mix of strategy andreal-time combat, was an amazing game.

And it just so happens Valkyria Chronicles II releases in the west this week. So far, consensus seems to be, “Buy me, please.

The 3rd Birthday, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Kingdom Hearts:Re:Coded, Final Fantasy XIV and Lords of Arcana form Square’s pack inJapan later this month.

The publisher also has Call of Duty: Black Ops in its line-up, whichit’s releasing in Japan in place of original pub Activision.

Full thing’s below, also mentioning what’s playable and what’s not.
 • Front Mission Evolved (Playable, Video)
 • Kingdom Hearts: Re:Coded (Playable, Video)
 • Lords of Arcana (Playable, Video)
 • Tactics Ogre (Playable, Video)
 • The 3rd Birthday (Playable, Video)
 • Mind Jack (Playable, Video)

 • Call of Duty: Black Ops (Video)

Where’s them two fab looking games about Novas and Crystals and stuff?

The list makes no mention of either Final Fantasy Versus XIII orFinal Fantasy Agito XIII, despite Versus director Tetsuya Nomuramentioning last week that both games will get a brief showing at the expo.

The two remaining titles in the the Fabula Nova Crystallis saga –the other being Final Fantasy XIII itself – have been hidden awayrecently, with no public footage of Versus in a year-and-a-half.

Square’s Yoshinori Kitase has even refused to confirm a 2011 timeline for the game in Japan.

Atlus isn't dead...
Persona Developer Merged
In 2007, Index Holdings, which owns movie company Nikkatsu and anime studio Madhouse, bought up the majority of Altus stock. Atlus is being merged, and the Atlus name will cease to exist as a registered corporation.

Index Holdings will be merging Index, its mobile content developer, into Atlus. This move looks to streamline the corporate organization.

"Atlus" as a brand can continue; however, Atlus will no longer be registered on the Japanese stock exchange. According to a spokesperson, the Atlus name will continue for both game development and retail sales.

Back in February when it was revealed that Atlus will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Index Holdings, there was concern that new Atlus games will differ from old Atlus ones.

and in regards to TGS Agito should be shown since it's on the floor in the US and looks amazing.
White Knight Chronicles Prologue Set for PSP

New portable entry takes place 10,000 years in the past.

September 1, 2010
by Anoop Gantayat

A couple of months back, just as White Knight Chronicles 2 was making it out onto Japanese retail shelves, Sony announced that the next entry in the franchise would be on PSP. It shared some preliminary artwork and details in Famitsu, but stopped there.

We at long last have a followup report, once again courtesy of Famitsu. The new game is titled White Knight Chronicles: episode portable - Dogma Wars and serves as a prequel, taking place 10,000 years prior to the events of the first two White Knights and detailing the world of the Dogma Wars. This time, you're fighting against those giant knights instead of transforming into them.

Famitsu's new look at the PSP White Knight Chronicles game focuses just on events, with no details on combat. We're going to have to wait for a followup to see how the PS3 version's online gameplay will make the switch to the small screen.

Different from the PS3 White Knight games, Level-5 does not seem to be directly developing Dogma Wars. Famitsu lists the game as being 50% complete and due for Japanese release some time in 2011.

Given the timing of this announcement, we're expecting to see more at the Tokyo Game Show in a couple of weeks.

PS3 Blu-ray 3D support pops out in October
3d-world-for-games-530.jpg

Hey, that PS3 update that was supposed to add support for 3D Blu-ray movies this month? Unfortunately, you'll have to languish with that copy of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs for a bit longer, because Sony announced at IFA today that the update has been pushed to October. We know, it's just not the same unless those meatballs are flying right at your face, but it won't be too much longer.

And hey, you can still try out some of them newfangled 3D games. It might not meet your meatballs-in-the-face expectations, but it's got to count for something, right?

Gran Turismo 5 HD Installation Approximately 10GB in Size
ps3_harddrive-300x233.jpg

Kazunori Yamauchi has given us a heads-up regarding what to expect from GT5 in terms of hard drive installation size via Twitter (human translation thanks to our own SHIRAKAWA Akira):

If you have at least 256MB it will work, but if you have 10 GB available you will be able to play comfortably.

Most of today’s heftiest games consume at least several GB – by comparison, GT5 Prologue requires about 6GB. Copying data to the system’s internal drive significantly reduces loading times due to the faster rate at which data can be read from HDD into the system’s memory. Yamauchi’s tweet is a little ambiguous on the details regarding exactly how much space you will need, but for the best possible experience, just make sure you’ve got at least 10GB available before November comes along!

I put Batman TAS on my ps3, but when I try to watch it plays at a sped up rate. Anyone know how to fix it?

That MoH trailer looks sick. I was planning on passing on all the FPS this year but I may reconsider.

Kojima wants a 'Complete' edition of MGS4, if someone else makes it
gammetalgearsolid4snake530.jpg

Poor ol' Hideo Kojima has apparently been on the receiving end of a plethora of demands from his rabid fanbase, all crying out for the integration of some of the PS3's patched-in features into Metal Gear Solid 4. The idiosyncratic developer took time out of his busy schedule of eating bizarre-looking foodstuffs to respond by saying, "I wanted to make a 'Complete Version' with trophy support and 3D, but if I did that I wouldn't be able to work on a new game. I wonder if someone else would make it for me."

Well, gang -- any takers? It really shouldn't be too hard. Just drop a trophy in for completing each boss fight, one for beating the game on its hardest difficulty, and one for beating the game using only your wits and a pornographic magazine. Give them some clever names ("I Only Read It For The Articles," for instance), and baby, you're good to go
