PlayStation Store is Available and Updated Now
+ Posted by Grace Chen // Director, PlayStation Store

The PlayStation Store is back online and thank you everyone for your patience. You will notice a huge lineup of new downloadable games, demos, add-on content, themes, avatars and videos. Also, PlayStation Plus has been updated with new full game trials, free games and DLC, free avatars and even more discounts.

You may have noticed that the content promised as part of the Welcome Back offer is not yet live. It is currently in the final stages of testing and will be available to download soon; we’ll be sure to let you know when.

The next PlayStation Store and PlayStation Plus update will be this Friday, June 3, and then we will roll right into some special publishes starting next week for E3 (so be sure to check back daily!).

In the meantime, check out all the new downloadable content on PlayStation Store.

Call of Duty Elite enlisting 'Hollywood talent' to create web TV series
eliteshield_530x375.jpg

The Call of Duty Elite news train keeps on keeping on, with UK paper the Guardian reporting that a premium membership will include "exclusive access" to a Call of Duty-themed web TV series. "We have engaged some top Hollywood talent to create linear video content that will be exclusive to Elite members," Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg tells the Guardian. "That content is inspired by Call of Duty."

With Elite intended to maintain, or even increase, interest in the Call of Duty brand between its annual releases, some linear video programming could certainly help bridge that gap and keep subscribers coming back to Elite. "If you're a sports fan, there are lots of ways for you to connect with that hobby, that passion, not just on the day that the games are played, but throughout the week, and we wanted to give [Call of Duty players] real entertainment value," Hirshberg says.

And that's about all we have in the way of details. No word on whether the Hollywood talent Activision's procured will create live action, ala Find Makarov, animated, ala Halo Legends, or machinima content, ala John Hillcoat's excellent Red Dead Redemption short. Hirshberg says, "We're not going to give much more detail until we have something to show. That'll be later in the year."

Sony's E3 keynote to be streamed live in PlayStation Home
pshomepblackrgb.jpg

Got any plans for Monday night? Sony's announced that it will stream its five hour E3 press conference straight from the very real, very solid Los Angeles to the ephemeral metaverse of PlayStation Home. Normally, we'd judge anyone who spends five hours inside of PlayStation Home, but we'll make an exception for this. The keynote kicks off on June 6 at 5pm PT.

In addition to the press conference, Sony will also recreate its E3 booth set-up in Home. Starting Tuesday, June 7 at 12pm PT, users can take a virtual tour of Sony's re-creation and unlock exclusive Home content in the process. Also, the PlayStation Blog guys will be streaming live from the show floor at random intervals, offering up game demos and interviews for virtual patrons.

We'll be honest ... we're a little jealous. We'll be there, dragging ourselves through the aromatic halls of E3 to bring you all the hot scoops ... but instead of F5-ing our internet site, you'll be kicking it in Home. We quit. Hit the jump for the full press release
Sony begins full restoration of its PSN and Qriocity services (update: live in London)
Can it be happening? Is Sony's security nightmare finally over? Seems to be. On Tuesday, Sony promised full restoration of its PlayStation Network and Qriocity services in the Americas, Europe, and Asia (excluding Japan, Hong Kong, and South Korea) by the end of the week. Now Sony is proclaiming that today is the day for full restoration with details of its "welcome back" package to be announced from each region. The PlayStation Store is already up with a "huge lineup" of new games, demos, add-ons, themes, avatars, and videos along with an updated Playstation Plus. Hey, look on the bright side Sony, even though you've lost the confidence of millions of your customers, at least now they're aware of your Qriocity service. Full press release after the break.

Update: Working fine for us from London. We signed in to PSN without any problems and managed to fire up Black Ops multiplayer.

Update 2: We're now seeing error "80710D36" when trying to access the PlayStation Store, presumably due to congestion.

Anyone else able to get on the PS Store?

Here's how I got on. I clicked on the "what's new section" on the xmb and clicked on some advertisement for PS+ got the 807... error message. But I was still in the store and didn't get kicked out immediately like when I tried going straight into the PS Store off the XMB.

I went to redeem my codes for the DLC case I got from Gamestop and the exclusive DLC case for PS3 for LA Noire and was able to download them.

I got a $20 pre paid PSN card and I'm going to try next to buy some stuff off the PS Store.

It may be frustrating but try my method for accessing the PS Store and it might take a few tries when redeeming voucher codes or buying stuff today since the PS Store servers are being overwhelmed with so many people trying to access it.

Good luck everyone.

What are good downloadable games with online multiplayer?

Grab Dead Nation since it's free on the welcome back program.
Multi Player is pretty fun.
