Today I am going to be a guest speaker at an alternative school's high school graduation. I feel like I have a good message for the kids, but public speaking isn't really my thing. It is only going to be in front of like 25-30 people, but I still get nervous and shy in those situations.

Any tips?

Do what everyone else said plus try and control how fast you talk. Also body language says a lot about a speaker. Try not to be too fixed in one position.

Have fun with it.  Just relax and let it fly.  Obviously you're of some substance if they chose you to speak.

Practice but remember that a lot of people won't even be paying you any attention. It's mostly mental. Things you're conscious of on stage most likely won't be evident to the audience.

Project your voice. No one wants to hear unconfident words.
It wouldnt hurt to put energy and emotion in it so its not boring.

And dont think too hard during the speech or u might slip.
Get into a groove and try to make it as smooth as possible.
