Pusha T

man the outrage over drake "black face" is dumb considering ive been seeing on social media pretty much say what drake said in his press release. in context of that reasoning (is there anything out there saying the context of the shoot was something different) wheres the foul? the funny thing is if childish gambino decided to put black face in a project like this is america we wouldnt even question whether or not there was symbolism behind it. we're looking a drake sideways now because his music/rap persona isnt associated with that kind of deep symbolism. but that shoot was 10 years ago and has nothing to do with his music. if the context behind the photoshoot is what hes saying it is, whats the difference between what gambino did all through this is america, besides the fact that hating on drake is the fun thing to do

either way, im going to need this to translate to bars

Ask Yourself This, Why Didn’t Drake Speak On Any Of This Before The Picture Hit The Internet?

probably because of the sh*t storm that would ensue from people taking it out of context. didnt he claim that the idea man himself was black/sudanese? and the originator for the idea to begin with? is it not his message?

In the decade since that photo was taken, when has Drake ever mentioned pro-black causes or the plight of the black man in the entertainment industry? Dude has one of the biggest platforms in music and I've never heard a peep from him about that stuff so I ain't buying his story

Canada doesn't have race problems though according to Drake.

Ding ding ding.

Mr Canada don't have racism like the US does.

It's problematic when he's gone out of his way most of the time to ever speak on any race issue.

and if people that dont want to believe the context behind the shoot, thats fine. but if the context is right, i think the message intended is a message that should be spread.

I found this statement from the "too black guys company" the people who make the clothing he was wearing during the shoot

"The photo in question was not from a Too Black Guys photoshoot however it did feature clothing from Too Black Guys’ JIM CROW COUTURE/HOUSE OF CROW collection which was released in 2008. The collection featured several graphics that highlighted the painful and dangerous period of the Jim Crow Era.

Too Black Guys has a history of representing the black experience in an unapologetic way. Although this was not an image from any of our photoshoots, we feel that Drake, who is a long- time friend of the brand, was brilliantly illustrating the hypocrisy of the Jim Crow Era.

The subtleties of Drake, a young black man, mimicking how white men used to mimic and dehumanize black people may be lost in a rap battle but we should not be distracted from the issues that are still affecting our communities."

Nope, Because He Was Tap Dancing For The Crackers, While Singing Mami. He Isn’t A Genuine Or Real Person, He Is An Actor, You Just Love This Role

So When He Got On The Scene In 09 (2 Years After The Shoot) Why Didn’t He Speak On This Cause He Held So Near & Dear?

probably because once he got on the scene, making that kind of noise would affect his (and the people resposnible for his careers) pockets. whether or not hes down for real activism, especially since this photo was taken isnt really the point though, atleast i dont think it is. this project wasnt "of drake" for all intents and purposes he was just the model used. for all we know he could have been paid to do it and that the reason why he did it. but that still doesnt change the message (or intention) of the shoot, which was :a young black man, mimicking how white men used to mimic and dehumanize black people may be lost in a rap battle but we should not be distracted from the issues that are still affecting our communities. i dont think drake got together with a bunch of his white candaians friends and said "lets take a racist picture". i think its a misconception that drake must really have to be deep in activism to do something like this when in actuality someone came to him and said this is my vision and this is what i want you to do.

frenchbreadbuilds frenchbreadbuilds I hate to break it to you, because I know you’re really trying to make an argument for Drake, but that statement he released was written by a PR firm. It’s straight from the playbook and while it has some truth to it, it clearly has a PR firm fingerprint all over it. You may ask yourself, how I can be so sure? Let’s just say I have first hand experience with these tactics.

So Instead He Switched It Up To Be More Popular Than Right? Push Said Gotta Cut The Head Off The Snake  But Keep In Mind, Does/Did Drake Even See Himself As A Black Man? What Is This Phantom Project No One Knows About? & Why Are You Scrambling To Fill In The Blanks? Drake Said What He Said
