nothing against Bortles but i think the dolphins are frauds. #kanyeshrugNo love for Bortles against that mighty Dolphins D?
Outside of Luck do you guys think this young wave of QB's and the likes of Stafford and Cam will ever reach the level of these QB's in their primes or near the end. Let's say you split it at age 31 or 32. So Brady, Manning, Rodgers, Brees Ben, Romo, Rivers.
Is it possible we've been watching a golden era of QB's or will they be replaced? The top 5 QB lists have been filthy for a while now with the same QB's replacing eachother each year.

I asked this a couple days ago in the NFL thread and got some snide remarks but I don't think you'll ever see a group come close to what we have in Brady, Manning, Rogers, Brees, Ben.
these kids in college aren't learning a pro style offense and the ones who are, are being thrown into NFL systems. Brady, Rogers, Romo all sat and learned.
they tried doing that with Bortles but they had no choice. i think him and Carr have the mechanics to be the greats of their respected league some day. but the best then will never be the best like we've seen.
we take for granted the talent we've gotten to watch at QB over the last decade.

There will be more elite quarterbacks..people were thinking the same thing about 12 years ago. There will be guys who emerge.

The last time Aaron Rodgers threw a pick at Lambeau Field, ball was snapped on the play by Jeff Saturday.

What we don't know is what the league, and systems will look like going forward.
Standard drop back "Pro" systems aren't as prevalent anymore in college, and you are getting more athletes at the position than regular throwers. All the way down to HS.
The 6-5 240 sling it 70 yard guys aren't really around as much as they used to be, we're getting a lot more 6-2/6-3 guys that can run and throw it good enough. Spread systems, etc also affect the way they need to throw, vs how they can get by thru the systems. Once you get to the NFL level, you gotta be pretty damn accurate, or you're gonna get shredded.
Manziel went wild in the SEC, and even with how "good" he looked yesterday, those were two heaves that somehow found targets. Outside that, he completed, what, six passes? :\
Those six passes? 62 yards.
Perfect example of what I'm getting at. Stats are shiny, but did he really play all that well? Is that the trend that will develop once these elites leave, and the game is such a wide open version of its former self with all the spread fields, and no contact, so you can be meh, and still get 200+ yards and 133.9 QB ratings, while completing really just 2 passes that had an impact on a 60 minute football game?
Iono. I know players always evolve, and the game does too, but I'm personally worried 3-4 years from now, what's coming down the pipe.
