You really couldn't figure that out on your own could you? How we learn about European Imperialism as a precursor to the African diaspora and how that inherently ties into American history.
Yet again you can't comprehend that African history should also be taught as a precursor to the African diaspora?

Asian and African history is readily available to anyone who wants to learn about it. It doesn't take a Rosetta stone bro. Except for well, when we actually had to decrypt the hieroglyphics/ancient Coptic (using the actual Rosetta stone).
Review boards who select textbook and curriculum just don't want African history to be part of the curriculum.

exactly, they use the same material they always have, of course theres everything out there now but when american education first started all people knew was european history and it just got passed down

Because of a eurocentric education policy.
As I see it, in the eyes of those in power, the true americans are white people (therefore descendants of europeans).
So to them American history is only the white contribution and anything with white involvement.
Everyone else carries a hyphen and their history is taught as an elective or from the white man's point of view.

Do not depend on the school system to teach the/your childern true history. You're going to have to do it on your know. Meaning you need to find books and read them to the childern as early as possiable because once your plugged in the matrix, it's tough to unplug.
I realized that throughtout taking history classes that we never learned about anything controversial? Think about it, todays day and age everything is controversial but learning about the past is straight forward. Everyone did everything right with no agruements.
Even on the black history tip, someone answer this. What ever happened to the white abolitionist after the civil war? When black people were being legally killed on the streets? Just saying?

man, not everybody has it good. Not everybody is born into wealthy communities where the school's area tend to have more money. Not everybody has the privilege to go to a private school.
I don't even care about your "black Americans" example. Why? Not because I'm racist, but because it no longer has to do with race. It now comes down to your economic class. There's white people, latinos, asians, etc that all go through the bold part. Only difference is people like you expect some kind of pass because of your history. Get over it and make the future yours!
Would you like to know what happens with those schools in wealthy areas? The ones where from the time they were created to the late 80's or so (in my area) they only had people from their neighborhood? Back then (up until the late 1960's early 70's) the city was segregated. If you were latino you weren't getting into the wealthy area's unless you were INCREDIBLY wealthy. The high school had amazing scores and excelled in just about everything. 90's come around and my people get there. What happens? some stabbings, a couple deaths, and a lower graduation rate, lower test scores, and more free or reduced lunch programs. LASTLY, let's not forget, the people who were contributing to the school in a positive manner, both students and parent groups, move to a private school.

When we speak on micro aggressions, I believe the black community (or any marginalized group for that matter) does not have the same type of privilege as their white counterparts (e.g. not having to speak for the rest of their community)
You're right though, the racial divide between black/white should drop as we "level the playing field" when our classes align. Class stratification hasn't ever been higher than it is today thanks to neoliberal agendas set forth by Reagan & Margaret Thatcher.
Still, there are disproportionate amounts of Blacks born into welfare and a disproportionate amounts of Black (& Hispanic) citizens jailed. Being born White in this country will put you ahead further than if you were born Black It sounds cynical, but life is completely fair and equal until birth. It's a roll of a die to see what the rest of your life is going to look like. If we look back at the history of the people in this country we can see why things are at this decrepit state.

i think someone mentioned it earlier it really depends on the school that you attended I know when i was in middle school we had a whole semester dedicated to black history but that was mainly because the school I went to was 99.9% african american

Before this thread goes all the way off topic. Is there anyoer that know some good material about black history (pre-slavery) in the form of a book or a site which will lead to a book. I need to contnue learning because my brother looks to me to teach him. Any help would be nice.
