What?
YOU asked where does American history start.
No I didn't. Just because you don't understand the context of my posts, you don't get to take them out of context either.
You did that.

That would be African history.
So what defines American history? Just how the Europeans came to be over here?
Yes.
Goodnight.
the english language has a lot to do with this, textbook writers are not going to put in the extra effort to go translate a bunch of other language texts when writing their textbooks. when writing a section on asia, they will research english sources on asia which are written from a white mans perspective.
exactly, they use the same material they always have, of course theres everything out there now but when american education first started all people knew was european history and it just got passed downwaitwut?the english language has a lot to do with this, textbook writers are not going to put in the extra effort to go translate a bunch of other language texts when writing their textbooks. when writing a section on asia, they will research english sources on asia which are written from a white mans perspective.
Asian and African history is readily available to anyone who wants to learn about it. It doesn't take a Rosetta stone bro. Except for well, when we actually had to decrypt the hieroglyphics/ancient Coptic (using the actual Rosetta stone).
Review boards who select textbook and curriculum just don't want African history to be part of the curriculum.

if im correct your from NYC also
anyone that went to highschool here knows that you take 2 years of Global Studies and 1 of U.S history
In Global Studies all you learn about africa is slavery and apartheid MAYBE a lil something about Egypt but always in reference to the middle east or some kind of turmoil
On the other hand you go fairly deep into other histories to the point where i was in highschool with the russell westbrook face like this aint adding up
double negativeI literally dont know nothing about blacks in africa
double negativeI literally dont know nothing about blacks in africa
Cuz education is funded by the gov=you learn what they want you to know.
Simple
I agree, i have first hand seen black ppl turned down simply because of the color of their skin.see this type of stuff angers me. Why do you need excuses?
excuses bro? serious? 350 years of slavery, jim crow segregation and no reparations to speak of whatsoever and you want to talk about excuses?
the privileged are born into opulence whilst Black Americans are born into low-income tax brackets, ******** schools where teachers don't have the slightest interest in their students (hence the turnover rate in inner-city schools) and have to deal with systematic oppression and we're talking excuses man?
ignorance, pure and simple.
And it truly saddens me how some ppl are still stuck in that racist mindset. Very sad
Let's be honest here
There's still a difference between White and rich, and being Black and rich.

yes.
is there still a difference between being white and poor and black and poor?
They don't want you to know anything about your ancestry. How do you think us black folk are in the position where in now?
Because of a eurocentric education policy.
As I see it, in the eyes of those in power, the true americans are white people (therefore descendants of europeans).
So to them American history is only the white contribution and anything with white involvement.
Everyone else carries a hyphen and their history is taught as an elective or from the white man's point of view.
because the winners are the ones who write the history
its true thoughLOLbecause the winners are the ones who write the history
