I have an HP laptop that's fryed. I want to fix it but it needs a new motherboard. The product number is HP DV6409 or 6000, I'm not sure. Can I justget any motherboard that fits in the frame? Or does it have to be specific? Also I want to put better system memory (RAM) for my desktop, can I just drop anyunit in there as well? Thanks

For the love of everything holy, get the same (or a comparable) motherboard. Any old motherboard won't work, and you'll just mess up stuff worse.

RAM is another story. You can pretty much just put whatever fits in.

no you cannot put whatever ram fits in...

You could get another motherboard that fits the case but I don't see you really being able to do that because of specific connections and the mobo is builtspecifically (vents and fans) for that case. Your Ram needs to match your motherboard. Go to somewhere like corsair's website or your computermanufacturer's site to find out what specific RAM you need and how much your motherboard can actually handle in terms of amount of ram.

pretty much.

What part of "fits in" didn't I make clear? It wasn't literal, son.
