If they suck so much when you first try them why keep smoking? Why force yourself to do something that not only tastes bad, but will eventually lead you toaddiction and possibly death?

It was cool to do when I was younger... By the time I wanted to stop I was already addicted.

I started out on menthols, which weren't horrible. (I was used to them due to years and years of second hand smoke.)

And, people continue smoking for the same reasons why people continue other addictions. Sometimes it's actually physical; in my case, I think it's moreof a mental thing.

They calm me down. And I only allow myself to have one a day. I've kept true to that rule since I started a while back.

im guessing you smoke cigs.

Ive wondered this myself. What with all the surgeon general warnings and whatnot.

its a moot point though. All smokers know they are harming their bodies but they dont mind (or care), and life goes on.

For it to become a physical or mental thing you need to be doing it for a while. I'm asking why people continue smoking after their first try?

Not at all. You get an incredible feeling of euphoria after your first cigarette. I was hooked on the feeling from the first try.

The feeling eventually fades, but by that time, people are usually addicted in one capacity or another.

i only smoke these when im $%!% hammered at the bar, and a buddy has them, ill bum it since there isnt any PIFF in sight

Depression? Stress?

Heavy smokers often need something to stay afloat or to keep themselves up with, and I'm guessing smoking is one of those habits people use to relax or doto help their "thinking" or getting over something.

I don't give in to peer pressure. It's the same with drinking for me. I've tried it and I didn't like it so I never did it again.

I completely understand that, but that's people who are already addicted to it. People who first try them aren't yet addicted so what brings them backto do it again?

I just don't understand the draw to them,
Like why do it?
I mean i smoke tree's but i've never felt compelled to smoke cigs ever
I mean even after having knowledge of all the chemicals and the risk of heavy addiction why even try it?

because they are cool and addictive

but the better questions is

how you gonna ask a question and get mad at peoples answers

obviously you have some type of bias against smoking

i smoke ciggarettes just cause i want to smoke something sometimes
it doesn't even buzz me anymore but i dont care
i just like to smoke something
