These can crack without being worn and just due to age or mishandling right? Sorry for the noobie question.

Yeah.... I had a pair crumble on one step and I got a pair I been wearing twice a summer for the last 7 years.. And they have no signs of crumbling...I probably wouldn't buy a ds pair to wear...

I agree with you 100%. I can relate to that as well. I had a pair of DS White Cement IV's and when I tried them on and walked around my house for a few minutes, the heels just crumbled into dust. Lesson learned there.
Wear your shoes and enjoy them as long as you can because you will end up just throwing your money away unless you keep them for display and collecting purposes only.

apparently you can get lucky with DS '99 IV's, but it's rare. if you find the perfectly stored pair and break them in around the house, you might luck out, but i'd be scared as hell, especially if i dropped a healthy sum on 'em.

best bet is to find the cleanest worn pair you can, and go on iss and have team wearability in the jordan forum check them for you (and ask the seller to feel around the midsole for any soft spots. soft spots are a clear indicator they will crack. you want them to be nice and firm all the way around)...

team wearability over there hs passed my black cements and white cements, and so far so good.

oh, and if you're over 200lbs i'd prolly just forget about it. heard being heavy almost inevitably cracks them.

You get your answer, OP? I heard about you. I'm only the messenger not the owner of SS. I'll even answer your question:

I bought a DS pair off my boy from sole supremacy. I knew what I was getting into, what I was buying. I knew if it cracked, it's on me. I took that risk. Educate yourself if your going to buy shoes that are 10+ years old. It's always a 50/50 chance. Also, I can guarantee the shoes were not shipped crumbled. Check the feedback on eBay..you think out of 2500+ positive feedback, 100% rating, they would jeopardize all the work they put in to satisfy all those customers? No. Next time, think before you try and pull a fast one..

On the other hand 1999 White Cement IV's are probably the best Nike Air shoe.
