I think the Lakers will allow both 8 & 24 to be retired but I think Kobe will choose # 24 alone to be retired.

By the time he retires Kobe really has a chance at a 2nd 3 peat without Shaq, 6 or 7 seven rings, and might even pass Kareem for all time career scoring leader.

I say this because Kobe when he signed his 3 year extension a reporter said "Kobe at the end of this extension you will be 35 and this could be your last contract and guarantee your entire career is with the Lakers". Kobe I said I don't think this will be my last contract.

I really think Kobe is going to keep playing until he's 40.
