How is it that we are born into the person that we are?

I'm not exactly sure how to word what I'm trying to get across but its something that's been on my mind for quite some

time. If your parents were to never meet or procreated with other partners would it be you that would be born or someone else?

Would you still exist?

Discuss.

I'd like to think my soul is looking at potential parents genetics before I'm born thinking what two mixes would make the best body for me. If the one's i wanted to come through couldn't work maybe my soul had a plan b,c etc.

It's an interesting question. I'll give a good, thought out answer after I get some sleep. Only gotten about 6 hours of sleep over the past 3 days. That damn adderall :{

No way to tell

but Im sure the mix of parents ultimately made the physical person. Without the mixture of looks from both parents then one could not have come into life looking the way one does. The physical aspect of person also have a great impact on how the world around them receives them or rejects them. I would say that the person that one is at the moment is a product of the actions and experiences under taken while growing up along with the way others perceive one through the physical self.

Parents make up a lot of the inner workings of a person. Hereditary problems stem from the DNA of one or both parents. Even with both genes present in an individual, one can be very different from their parents. I would say its the experiences lived that bring forward the true nature of a person. While experiences might shape the way a person thinks and behaves, things like the way one perceives the world could also be affected by DNA.

So taking all things into consideration

the world might never know.....

What happened to that boy??

I'm certain this topic is discuss in biology or psychology.

Who we are is determined by our surroundings and our peers. It's actually a variable amount since there is a lot to account for. What we like to do is based on our influences. If you're 10 years old, you don't just ask your parents for $120 to buy the new AJ 4's that just came out. There had to be a reason why. Many of my friends grew up with their dad, older sibling, uncle collecting Jordan's as I did not. I had to be exposed to it plenty of times for my attention to grasp the idea that this sneaker is not just a sneaker.

As for your second question, I don't know if anyone knows.

We are "built" by our family experiences as well as our experiences with our peers and friends. If your mom met another man and had a kid it would not be you.

You already know fam. :{

To answer the original question, simply put OP, no.

The person you are today can be thought of as the ever changing results of different occurrences. Many different instances over the course of time have lead you to this wondering about this particular topic.

Essentially, you are a result of chaos. Consider the time of your conception. There was a chance of your pops pulling out and the egg from which you were produced would not have been fertilized. Think back, if you will, to the day your parents met. What if your dad had been bent down tying his shoe when your mom walked by and be never caught a glimpse of her? He could have stood up and saw another attractive woman walk by, and persued a life of happiness with her instead. Can you be thought to exist if not for the causes that lead to your existence? I don't believe so. Maybe a person similar to you, but not you yourself.

I don't believe that's 100% true. I think we have part of us that has inherent predisposition to certain things like thinking, temperament, physiological mechanisms that are THEN affected by our experience(s) and our environment(s).

And like another posters said, there's no way to tell if you that is present right now would've been different from if either of your parents had married and coppulated with someone else.

I think another train of thought is if the you right NOW is the same as the you BACK THEN. Look at how much we change over the years....some people go through such drastic changes that they can't even recognize themselves anymore. That would lead me to think that the you if your parents had been with other people wouldn't be who your are right now.

I made up an interesting theory when :hat that what if schizophrenics are just taking on different personalities of themselves if their parents had just met other people in different time streams and had different kids who would still be that person but just in a different time line with a different environment to grow up in and different experiences.

This.

This is somewhat of a correlation between infinite/alternate universes, that theoretically could generate countless combinations or variations of our current reality.

In theory though, they would just be an entirely different human being.

One aspect though, physical appearance, is about as close to similiar as your gonna find. I've already seen dudes on this planet that have similiar traits as I do.....I couldn't imagine another universe where there's such a small variation is physical feature that it basically looks exactly like me

This. Our environment and the morals we've obtain growing up as a young kid will justify who we are as a person.

It's a quick question that needs a long answer. Are you high? These philosophical threads are usually started by high people.

sometimes when im with people i try and picture what they are seeing out of their eyes (were basically looking at the same things, try to picture them seeing me)

i get this mental image of what they are seeing through their eyes and wonder if they ever wonder that followed by me thinking that i am everyone. and i can see through everyones eyes but in a way i cant

idk

im not high when i do that if it matters

i think of this question sometimes too.. and i always say, that if my parents would have never met then i would not exist..
so i dont go beyond that.

Mindfulness, the process itself is called "cognitive schema", when you first meet someone your brain works like the Google search bar, whatever wasn't cleared is saved for an "auto complete" type function. This process  decides to "prototypes, stereotypes or scripts". So lets say the person is a prick, prick is saved in the search bar so if you see someone else with those same qualities it becomes your prototype for a "prick"...but you maybe wrong that process is call "stereotyping".

So if you enter "prick" the auto complete in your brain puts "prick" in the search bar and your may have been searching for "prickly cactus"

To answer OP's question:
Genetics build who you are physically, you character is totally up to your influences, whether positive or negative the outcome is innate.

Before you come here you decide what circumstances you will be born into to further your growth back to source.

omnipresence.

i get like this around large crowds sometimes.

i sometimes thinks this plays into what we label as insecurities, or peer pressure because in our culture we don't have the proper nomenclature to discuss these things without seeming cookoo
