R&B Thread About Nothing

What do you think killed r&b groups, and do you think we will see a resurgence of them anytime soon?

Commercial appeal and Hip Hop killed R&B. R&B was getting blended too heavily. Singers started rapping or flirting with Rap content a little too much.

It might come back but the time we live in today, everyone wants hard bass hitting beats or **** that's super shallow and catchy. The real R&B wasn't that. The content was so different.

There's artists slowly coming out and trying to make real quality music and not worrying about sales. H.E.R. has been real impressive, quality and hasn't sold out to get a commercial record. SZA also has stuck to her sound without selling out. It's rare today.

I think he was asking specifically about groups but it occurred to me that there aren't really rap "groups" like there used to be either.

I just think it's hard to co-exist with other people in a creative space.

Right and all of the legendary groups end ugly.

Temptations, New Edition, Jodeci, Harold Melvin and the bluenotes...
