R&B Thread About Nothing

Was looking for D’Angelo comments on his ex wife Angie Stone Passing. Instead I find this…
I miss this part of life where R&B was as powerful and popular as Rap and Hip Hop

Feels like those times will never come back.

Joe budden podcast had a cover comparison segment.

Started with killing me softly...that was a no contest...(sorry roberta)

They mentioned a few more.

Then someone brought this up. And I can't call it. D'Angelo version is smooth as ****...but the original is such a beuatiful song that still stands to this day. Gun to my head, give me the bounce from D'Angelo's version, but goof lawd.

I don't this version is close to Smokey version. A cover I can call is Creepin, Running out of Fools and a few more Luther tracks.

This one hurts a lot man, one of my favorite artists of all time |l|l

Used to deep dive his old records heavily when I still messed around with sampling and got a fuller appreciation for his incredible discography. Feeling like when Ahmad Jamal passed :{

The word genius truly doesn't do the man justice

RIP to an icon and my true King of Soul 🙏🏾🙏🏾

That's Angie Stone, Roberta Flack and Roy Ayers gone in the span of 2 weeks :{
