Racism In Japan? Vol:日本人ã

SO the other day I went to Little Tokyo in Los Angeles and I spent the day with three Japanese girls. DNS
Anyways, I was having a convo with them and we were discussing majors and our cultures.
One girl told me that in Japan most people don't take kindly to foreigners blacks in particular.
Two were from Runma and the other I kinda forgot, somewhere rural I remember that.

So my question is, did any NTers face prejudice in Japan?
This black guy I know went to Japan and told me that while he was there
 he went to a bookstore and the owner was giving him the
 scared "omg black guy is gonna rob/kill me face".  The owner told him to leave.

He also said it was a hassle finding a place to stay because some people don't like to rent rooms to foreigners.
Dude has a milky complexion, me I'm dark chocolate.
I plan on going to Japan in the near future, but I want to know what I'm getting myself into.

Never been but I hear it's true from Japanese friends. They're not really exposed to black culture and many are ignorant as a whole when it comes to them. There's also the disdain for dark/tan skin.

Yeah, I've heard that too. They said that they rarely see foreigners/blacks so it's kinda like a

moment for them.
I plan to learn enough Japanese to get me through daily transactions.

You should have been known this if you live in LA. All you have to do is go to your local store that is owned by Asians.

I don't live in L.A.
I get the black person stare where ever I go so I'm used to it.
But going to Japan and having a majority of people doing it?

Do I need to wear a damn shirt that says I love Japan and it's people and it's culture?
Or is that somehow disrespectful?

there are actually a surprising amount of black people in tokyo. When i was there a few years ago, I had all these Nigerian dudes come up to me trying to get me to go into their clubs/shops

been up and down japan in smaller cities to the big ones like tokyo/osaka. didn't see anymore racism than i do here. havent heard anything about how they like black people, but i heard they really dont like Koreans.

I have been to Japan and I had no problems. Just people wanting to arm wrestle and have me jump and touch things

. Girls are kinda sketched out sometimes tho, I'm not really sure what it is. Never really been able to pinpoint it. The exchange students at school are the same way.

No mo but I get along really well men with the men. Girls in their culture are very different tho

With that being said Japan is very homogenous and liek someone already stated xenophobia is natural. I hear Tokyo is a little more progressive, especially the younger generation. I met this Japanese girl in NYC at a club that was visiting on vacation, and we made out. The communication barrier was lulz, she literally knew like 3 words in English...well either way she aint seem that scared.

^^^ My boy got scammed for 1,500 at one of these "clubs" in roppungi

. We were heated

. It is a really long story but when we got out I tried to fight every African at least 5 blocks. They would come up to you with the same scam and I'd flip out. The Japanese walking by etc were soooooooo scared

. I actually felt pretty bad about it
