Range Rover Evoque...yah or nah?

I am looking for an SUV and just can't find any I like but this car just calls my name every time I see it on the streets...what are your thoughts?

I was originally trying to go no higher than $35k for a car but I took a nice job this week so I would look at a base model pure around $44k.

Can Ranges generally be neg. down or is it pretty much the price you see? I have never had experience with Ranges.

I say no. At that point, you're just buying it because it has Range Rover on it. You could get a better SUV with more features and probably thats more reliable than a range for 35K.

honestly I am not driving it because it's a Range; I have never been into luxury...I'd prefer this car was a $35k Ford but I love how this looks; I don't even like other Ranges

The VW Tiquan loaded is the only other SUV that peaks my interest but it seems chickish

Domestic/American SUVs can't be beat sometimes.

For instance, that new Jeep Cherokee is TOUGH. For 44K you'd be kitted out.

The Evoque is only really great if you live in a city with really small roads.

Range Rovers have a HISTORY of a lot of problems. However, recently, a lot of them are coming out a lot more reliable.


I would look for something else, if I were you, unless like I said you lived in a town with some small streets.

^this...the parts are so expenive and have to be ordered from across the world in the us, and youre basically just paying for the name..these things are not that durable as they make em seem..

range rover is trash though since they end to have problems, at least in the past.

if you know about cars then you know this range rover is built on da ford mondeo platform...its basically a tall car.

as others have said, no one SUVs like da americans as far as quality and price point.

I just seen one on those on the road yesterday, actually looked sleek and modern. Though they are small.

The 2011 and 2012 range rover models actually have been above standard, so it leads to believe they fixed their quality issues.

I would defintiely grab that one in a coupe version though, would look a lot better.

btw they depreciate more than the american made SUV's due to their reputation, even if it's the thing of the past. You need to take that in to consideration in regards to how long you plan on keeping it.

Crazy thing is...it IS a ford (car is built on a Ford platform). I tell people all the time...DO NOT get a luxury car if you are stretching your budget to afford it. High priced cars mean high priced maintenance. If the monthly payment is at the top end of your budget, when the warranty goes where are you getting repair money? Not to mention the Premium only gas. So if 35-44K is your arbitrary..."all I want to spend number", but you can afford something more expensive...go for it. If not I'd look outside the luxury car arena.

Any data/stats on this? I'm not saying you're lying, but when I used to be on auto/luxury boards just looking around, people used to clamor at how many problems they were having on the regular. It used to be for really stupid and simple stuff too. I want to say since Ford bought them out around the turn of the century, that they've been at or near the bottom of the major reliability polls and rankings since then.

Thats kinda my motto too. Never start at the entry level. A regular 3 series or C-class just looks corny to me. Its like you just want the label/brand instead of actually getting something worth that much money. 

At least start at the mid-level as 5-series or the E-class or the equivalent SUV level.

Complete Rubbish. For half the price I could purchase a true SUV with body on frame construction, and every feature outside of hill descent assist and voice activated software.
