Re-installing an Operating System (Windows XP)

yo NT help me out..i have Windows XP Professional installed on my system.  However, it is in Korean and I've had enough of this and want to re-install the OS (only way to change it to English).  I have Windows XP Home.  How do I figure out what drivers I need/what drivers do I need??  What do I do after..can I just put my XP Home CD in during startup and make it happen?   I want to do a fresh install, delete everything off the hard drive.

check your computer manufacturers website for compatible drivers for your machine. Download the drivers and put them on a usb drive.
might want to make sure you have a windows xp key that will work for activation (should be a sticker for one on your machine)
then just follow the instructions from the video(minus the arabic language stuff) to actually install it. its not too difficult. remember probably need to enter the bios and make the computer boot from cd first in order to get the cd work.

Ye if it was a Dell or Hp or something that is what my first thought was.  However, just picked this up some guy for cheap and it's a self-made system.

If you can still use your machine, download CPU-Z, install it, run it and click the mainboard and graphics tabs to find out what type of motherboard & graphics card you have. Then just go to the manufacturers website & find the the correct drivers for that machines motherboard & graphic card.

The OS has standard drivers with it. Other than that you just go to Device Manage and update from there.

Okay, thanks for the info. Good to know standard drivers are on the OS. I'll download the motherboard and graphics/sound card drivers and put them on the USB just in case.

before you start using the computer once the image is on, you should add all the programs you want to be your baseline needs on XP and create an image of that. So if you run into this again, you can have a somewhat recent and clean image. It takes a little time but so worth it. When that hard drive crashes you will know what I am talking about.

Okay, so I reinstalled XP and the only version I had was Media Center Edition, but ye whatever. I have two main problems. I installed the drivers for the network card and checked out device driver and it looks fine (looks like the driver install went through fine). However, when I click it internet explorer it doesn't connect to the internet. Is there some special website or something I need to do to connect for the first time (some 192.yada yada site). What settings do I need to set up?

Also, I installed the drivers for the ATI Radeon card but i'm not sure if they are really working because it says I need to download Microsoft Net 2.0 framework or something to use the utility (catalyst) program that comes with it.

Any suggestions?

It sounds like you're trying to connect via wifi from the 192.168.1.1 description.  If that's the case, you'll either need to connect your computer to the router and download the drivers for your wireless card, or install it to a usb key from someone elses system and do it that way.
