I kinda get it. The reasons why I liked the book, pretty much have nothing to do with the actual plot, but with the 80's callbacks and descriptions of how things work in this world, especially the OASIS.
I also doubt the author has another hit like this, unless it's ready player 2.

The adventure side of the book was intriguing, the narration and dialogue however were on par with fan fiction from 15 year olds. The narration made Fifty Shades of Grey look like Ulysses.

I was wondering how much it took to get the whole damn movie approved. And why does BTTF has such a big presence??

I spoke with him right after the official trailer was released and he said it was a pain due to all the licensing and footage that Spielberg gave them. A lot of the footage weren’t finished and Spielberg was going back and forth with the different cuts that were made.

I’ll ask about the BTTF presence in the trailer, though lol

BTTF is one of the most iconic films and a huge pop culture to this day, it helps that Spieldberg was the producer of that film and he has all the rights and free reign to use it.
