Recommend me a netbook

Not trying to spend more then $325 on one. Need something with at least 8 hours of battery life & windows xp. I was looking at the Asus 1001P but im not sure if i could live with the limitations of windows 7 starter. any suggestions

anything asus the battery life on them lil mini are great i bought one for my chick and it goes for like 8 hrs them other brands is trash only go for like 3 to 4 hrs

I checked out the Dell mini 12 and seriously, you might as well get a real laptop for $999. I know it's thinner and lighter than most laptops in it's screen size category but for that price I want a better processor. It would be another story if it was around $600-700

any specific models for the MSI and Asus?

Some guy my mothers friend knows put Windows 7 Ultimate on my laptop in addition to cleaning it out for $35. What's the difference between starter and ultimate? I didn't even ask the guy to put it on, I was fine with my Vista. Any help is appreciated.

Don't do it. Netbooks are gonna lose its appeal in a year or two.

The best 2 Netbooks on the market, everything else is trash to me.

The 1st one is Windows 7 home premium with Nivida graphics card and hdmi 12 inches. 

 The 2nd one has 11hrs battery life and is the best built netbook on the market.

^ That's laptop money (edit: the top one).  Unless you're looking for that much functionality (in which case just get a 13 inch laptop), find a cheap one if all you need it for is browsing/email, etc.  Look for ones on sale at Slickdeals.com and other sites, and even ebay.  You could find one for like $150 or $200 and then wipe it and install whatever OS you want and even upgrade the battery for less than the "nicer" netbooks.

I actually got both of the netbooks, I use the 1st one to stream movies to my ps3 and is currently connected to my tv for my moms to watch Nigerian movies in the living room or her room . The Toshiba is for school, type papers and surf the internet. I have zero problems with both. Joint was Money but its worth it for the things i do while chilling or on the go. I bought a cheap Acer netboook it only last me 2 months, motherboard fried. I can't afford things to break on me and then its onto the next one. Did my research and copped them 2 months apart.

Windows xp isn't properly optimized to run on a netbook. It works well but power management sucks like 3hrs to 4hrs depending on the netbook. Windows 7 starter OS works well and uses less resources and will give you better battery life 8hrs+. The only thing if your not tech savy it will be hard to customize the wallpaper and other functions that you may do on a Win7 home premium, streaming media to your xbox or ps3.

any specific models for the MSI and Asus?

MSI X340, X400, or X600. They are from the X Slim line, have 3 yr warranties, go under 500$ new and come with up to a Core 2 Duo processor, are very light and slim but no optical drive. Screen sizes are 13, 14, or15 inches.

The Dell Lattitude D6xx (620, or 610) are full laptops in netbook sizes like 12 inches and up, but are business oriented (used heavily in the Army) and give you the best bang for your buck specswise, but are atrocious. You can literally cop a new 12 inch one with bluetooth, 2gb ram, optical drive, etc, for under 300$

I'd just be getting it as a secondary, so I have no problem with getting a slighty preowned one off eBay or a refurb.
