Returning Games to Gamestop.

I purchased Red Dead Redemption. Mom gets home with a copy also from Gamestop. I tell her leave it on the counter and I'll return it tomorrow. Realize they gave her a "new" game with no plastic on it. Researching the return policy on "new" "unopened" games from GS and people stories make me think i'm going to have trouble tomorrow (well actually today). Anyone ever able to return a game that was considered new, but had no plastic on it for a refund? I'm already

But it was never sealed. It was already open.

According to the receipt, she paid for a new game. Reading peoples stories online, apparently thats how GS rolls now. Every time I have been to GS, I go straight to the counter and ask for whatever new game just game out. And they give it to me brand new.

you should carve a perfect circle on the bottom of the disk, tell them it came like that right out the box, they'll prob exchange it.........go to another gamestop and return it

the circle has to be absolutely perfect though, make it look like an error

a similar but unrelated story, back in 2008 on Madden Release release day, i'm there for the midnight opening to cop with my boy. i cop, don't realize till i'm in the car that there was no plastic on the case, open it up and there's no Madden disc.

i go back inside let and these bammas know what's goin on and they're really tryin to tell me there's nothing they can do :rollyes

i'm really not the type of n_ to make a scene but i let em know that i wasn't leaving without a disc. after a cool 5 minutes, they give in and give me a new one. man as soon as i felt there was no plastic i knew somethin was wrong and i was sooooooooooo hot when i opened that thang up.

i hate gamestop after they f'd up my order on cod4 which took them over a month to deliver.

they did this with me for march madness.. A brand new sealed game, the dude just opened right in front of my eyes. I asked him and talked for a bit. It wasnt worth the hassle for me at that time to go someplace else.. Apparently, they have a red TAB/seal of their own on some of the new copies they open which is "THEIR" seal.. so you can return a game if that seal isnt broken.

thats how my GS rolls.. They "create" their own packaging/seals lol

I guess they were having issues at certain stores of people returning brand new unopened games and getting in store credit. which i guess isnt what they want

I just went there yesterday and and found this out.

I bought an Xbox 360 Elite, went straight to Gamestop to trade in the games that came with it - Forza 3 and Halo.

I open the Elite in the car take the game out and walk in. Immediately they say: "If it's brand new, we can't take it."

I say, "OK, well I will just rip the plastic off and then trade it in."

Them: "Nope. Once we have seen it brand new, we can't take it. You can open it and then take it to another location, though."

I asked them why and they said that they are now considered a "pawn shop" and have to carry a pawn license and that requires them to NOT buy unopened products due to theft from retail stores!

So I say "Well, what if I bring the 360 Elite in from the car WITH the receipt showing I just bought it?"

"Oh yeah, well then we can buy it and open it ourselves to sell."

So I traded it for $24 credit and they ripped it open for sale, even though on the case it says: NOT FOR RESALE. lol

NEVER habe I heard of them getting new releases in and opening them though...This must be new...

my gamestop will sell the display copy if it's the last one in the store but what they do is put a big clear sticker on the side of the case that opens. they use that as the shrink wrap. it that hasn't been tampered with, then it's still considered a new game and they will give you a full refund.

Well, to be honest i don't see where many have you been, but GS has been doing this fora pretty long time.

They will give you a game with a case opened already and usually these are just games people have "bought" from gs unopened and returned so they open the game in front of you while you return with a knife to see if you have played the game. Then after they will put it in a cd sleeve like every other game until someone buys the game. Once they sell the game they should put a clear circular plastic sticker on the middle right side to seal the case (this is mandetory) so people know it is a new game just opened to see if had been played.

So bruh this return should be pretty simple unless they forgot to put the clear sticker that's when they will look at you funny, but either way just make your mom return it for you and say that that's how she got it when she bought it. No bigggy.

When buying from Gamestop, always ask for a sealed copy. The way I see it, if it's not sealed, it's not new.

Try selling the game to someone you know, unless you want to get ripped off by Gamestop and accept their store credit. GS is shiesty, I doubt they will give you the full $60 back for RDR, at most they will let you exchange it for another "new" (opened) copy.

Thats why gamestop sucks. They sell copys that aren't sealed and they sell them as new. If it's the display copy they should give a discount because once it's open it's not new. I don't know about you other dudes but I like to be able to rip the plastic seal off the case when I buy my games.

GS tries to pull that *$%@ but i always demand a sealed copy. U have the recent they know there practices so id go back and demand a refund...ask for the manager make a scene whatever it takes...gs is just bad business

--If you get an open game from Gamestop, its possible you got the last copy of that respective game.
--They "gut" one copy of each game and use the empty case as the display one.

My boy is a manager at gamestop and they do shady things behind the register. Thats why I dont buy video games from them anymore, rather go through private sellers unless the game is brand new and even then I try and do best buy.
