Revenge Bedtime Procrastination

I did this at a previous job. You're working all day at a job you probably don't like, and you get home and realize that there isn't enough time left in the day for you to do the things you'd actually like to do. It's like why do I work all day? I never have any time to spend the money.

So you get home, and "you take that time back". But it reality, you're only hurting yourself. Now you're ruining your sleep schedule. And with that may come a worsened diet, depression, maybe even suicidal thoughts.

Your sleep is very important. Don't ruin tomorrow by being reckless today. If you find yourself doing these destructive behaviors, please talk to someone you trust about it, or a doctor. You have to love yourself to the point where you won't let a job or a career slowly destroy you.

I've been working on this, it's something I've done since high school. Lately, I've been trying to just make a hard stop for when I cut everything off for the night. I first start by turning the lights out a couple hours before bed, then cut off all entertainment when it's time to sleep.

I take cold showers in the morning as it helps me feel more energetic and I use more energy in the day. Before bed I take a warm shower for the opposite effect, ultimately forcing me to sleep easier by the time I need to go to sleep.

Cold showers in the AM have you doing the running man

Yeah ive had issues with this since high school and im so accustomed to little sleep i just keep pushing. Its fine until it catches up to me finally and i can barely stay awake.

Since having covid though the fatigue i still have has me going to be around 1030 pretty consistently

Take Melatonin everyday. Sleep is crucial.

Ive thought about this but im a heavy sleeper and afraid i wont wake up in an emergency.

Cpl months ago our smoke detectors went off in the middle of the night. It was probably a good 30 seconds or so before i shook off the sleep realizing what it was.

Do we really need a term for everything?

I don't see why not in an instance like this. It can help those with a common issue relate and aid one another to solutions, or help them to find solutions through their own research

I'm sure some didn't think much of a term that related to their bad habits until seeing it presented to them

I get it...when you spend most waking hours of your adulthood at work you have to make your own free time to do what you enjoy.
Back in the 1950s there were no

1. Dishwashers - You had to fill up two sinks, one with soap and a sponge scrubber, and a rinse sink with bleach. Pots, pans, plates, bowls, cups, glasses, forks, knives, spoons - every other day you had to spend 1-2 hours washing dishes. Besides automatic dishwashers, in 2021 we now have GrubHub/UberEats/DoorDash - we eat half of our meals from disposable containers which reduces the amount of dishes to be done.

2. Microwaves - Every night you'd have to spend 2-3 hours in the kitchen. TV Dinners didnt come along till the 1970s and Supermarkets/Gas Stations didnt sell as many snacks as they do in 2021

3. Washers/Dryers - Back in the 1950s Laundry was done in a similar manner to washing dishes. Then you'd go in yiur backyard and hang em on a clothesline.

4. Transportation - Back in the 1950s most families only had 1 car which they shared. So if somebody else was using it, you might have to walk 2 miles to Da Coh'Na Sto just to get a rillo. Also bear in mind there was no Google, so if you wanted to go somewhere youd have to spend 15 minutes looking at a giant fold out map.

5. Smoking - Back in the 1950s they didnt realize smoking was bad for you so everybody smoked. It takes 5 mins to smoke a cigarette so if you smoked half a pack thats almost an hour gone right there.

6. HVAC - Back in the 1950s insulation wasnt standard in most homes so youd have to spend time creating fires in the Wintertime just to stay warm.

7. Text messaging - Back in the 1950s most people communicated with letters. You'd have to write several rough drafts before sending it out.

8. Birth Control - Back in the 1950s most couples usually had 5 kids by the time they were 25.

You really think people didn't think they stayed up too late? And if they worked too much because they don't have any free time during the day? Come on. Somebody will publish and get paid, but its nonsense. Just go to sleep/ get a new job bruh.

You don't really care to be so aggressive on this point like this.

I do this every damn day, even when I don’t work.

Gotta have my “me” time, especially during COVID szn when everyone is at home every minute that I’m not at work.
