I have been playing ball outside alot more lately, and the sometimes i feel like zoom cushioning isn't enough. i wanted to give the powermax a shot, so ineed to know how the sizing runs on these. also, any input would be great on the cushioning and ankle support. its got the usual air max outsole so i know thatwill be fine.

thanks in advance for any input...

the heel feel too high off the ground for me. Run true to size. Very good impact protection and heel to toe transition . Solid shoes imo but not good ifyou're a guard

thanks for the input..i play small forward and i used to play exclusively in air maxes until i discovered the magic of zoom but ive put on a little weight so ineed something a little more substantial until i can slim down again, which is why ive been playing basketball more often and with more intensity. ill dealwith a little clunkiness to spare my knees, and like i said before i used to regularly play in air max shoes so i should be able to deal.

i have heard good things about this shoe, like being more of a shoe for all positions compared to the hypermax.

good...i wasn't impressed by the hypermax at all. for being part of the "hyper" line, which are all extremely light, the hypermax shoes wereextremely heavy. the shoe didnt do a good job of being one with my foot. the shoe felt like it flexed in sections because of the flywire upper rather than inone smooth motion. they were also cut way too wide and way too high for me.

i know. i was just expecting the lightest air max shoe ever made.

im cool with not much ankle support, but hearing they are wide worries me a little.

i got my pair in today and so far im loving them. the shoes do sit a little higher off the ground than what im used to, but only because they are very wellcushioned. they run a little wide, but the lacing system allows you to fix that. oh and the ankle support isnt horrific. if laced properly, it grabs right atthe top of the foot which gives support but still allows a nice range of motion for the ankle. the lacing system on these is nearly identical to the lebron 4s.ill give a full first review after i play in them tonight.

well to each his own. i returned my pair right after one game. i laced them up tight and everything too.
i'm more of a perimeter player so maybe that's why they didn't work out for me, as

like i said, ankle support isnt a priority. personally, i like playing in low tops and these are as close as i will get with air max cushioning. i did feel alittle slower changing directions in these but i just had to be a little more alert on defense.

How do these stack up to lebron 4s besides the lacing system because thats what im playing in now.

^^^cushioning wise they are not nearly as soft and smushy as the lebron 4 but i wouldnt say thats a bad thing. the air max tooling of these is soft enough thatit provides great cushioning for running and jumping, but firm enough that its extremely responsive rather than having your foot sink into the cushioning likeit does with the lebron 4.

the powermaxes are lighter than the lebron 4s. both shoes have really good traction. the heel to toe transition on the powermax is superb. after playing 3hours worth of full court games, the shoes still dont have any creasing at all. the lebrons are also pretty good about this.

to be completely honest, the only advantages the lebron 4s have are the foamposite upper (because it molds to your foot and is indestructable, because of itsweight its a disadvantage) and the 4s are a little easier to move in laterally. every other aspect of the shoe is either a wash or the powermaxes are betterwith the main advantage being the cushioning. i loved the comfort of the lebron 4s, but it just wasnt functional for performance. the cushioning was so smushythat you lost alot of energy bending down for a jump.

I feel like the 4s have very good heel to toe transition for me as a good foot jumper (well im both a one foot jumper and a two foot jumper, but anyways), theonly problem i had with the 4's is the forefoot responsiveness, but after several wears it isnt a problem. i dont think the cushioning is too squishy, maybe because of have i run/jump, the cushioning actually feels quite responsive. Oh yea, the only other problem i have is that the zoom insole is deadeningout, but i use ALOT. Im looking for a DS pair so i can switch out the insole though.
