Aretha Franklin, the “Queen Of Soul” and one of the greatest singers in the history of popular music, has died at her home in Detroit, according to The Associated Press. She was 76 years old

Damn man, I thought she was on the mend yesterday, just woke up to hear this.

I won’t bore you with the sob story of my life, but to cut it short, my mother died when I was 3. I never got to know much about her, just snippets from family & friends, but one thing I was told is that her favourite album of all time was ‘Lady Soul’ she used to play it to me in the womb when she was pregnant. As you can imagine that album is very special and sentimental to me, Aretha is my favourite female artist of time, can't even put into words what her music has meant to me, she will be sadly missed.

R.I.P. your Majesty.

I just watched her performance of 'Natural Woman' at the Kennedy Centre Honours. Came out with the mink on and then towards the end she stood up, dropped the coat off and let it loose. I legit got chills watching it.

That's an awesome story. Thanks for sharing.

Hyerbole aside, this might be oen of the greatest duets ever. The Queen was playing to an audience of hippies at the Filmore not sure how they would react. She obviously won them over. The duet with Ray Charles occurred because she found out he was at the show & pulled him onstage for the encore. She wasn't the Queen of soul, she was the Queen of music period. I love all the nooks & crannies of her recordings. I live to hear her voice go flat on the outro for Natural Woman.
