RIP George Floyd

To all in here this is Minnesota's sentencing chart:

Derek Chauvin is being charged w/ second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder, & second-degree manslaughter w/ no prior to convinctions. So look at 10, 11, & 8(?), align them w/ 0, and convert the numbers you see which are months into years.

Ex.
128 months = about 10yrs and 7 months.

Don't blame the judge or something if that happens, that's just stuff he's working w/. He's been a good judge.

Thanks for the sentencing info. The UP to portion always scares me. Up to 3 years for a 2nd degree felony around here, and judges give them probation. How strict is Minnesota with petty crimes etc?

Interesting. Where is around here?

Why announce it’ll be read in 45 minutes? Giving police time to get their units ready?

call me a pessimist. If it’s good news, let it release early. This feels like they’re giving both sides time to get ready. I don’t like it.

I think if it was not guilty they would wait until the morning.

There's mandatory minimums in most states for serious crimes, so just because it says "up to" that's only putting a cap on the years.

If he's convicted of any of those murder charges the chart says he STARTS at 10+ years. For manslaughter, 4+.

My kid brother is a right-wing cop - I *need* this ****er to be found guilty so my brother will understand that he and his crew do NOT have free reign over the lives of black & brown people, that they swore an oath to "protect & serve," not "hunt & punish." This country's police forces need massive changes, and it needs it 100 years ago.

Curious how did he develop right wing ideologies while you didn't? I'm assuming you guys both grew up in the same household/environment. How did you guys end up being on opposite spectrums?

He went into the military at age 17 in the late 90s, got friendly with a bunch of down-home southern white kids in boot, listened to nothing but Limbaugh while serving and went full RW radio/Fox News when he came out. Then he went pretty much right into policing after he finished college after getting out of the service. So he's pretty much been indoctrinated by RW media while serving in roles of authority for about 20 yrs now. Not a good combination :smh:
