RIP George Floyd

Today marks one year since George Floyd was killed by the Minneapolis Police Department.

R.I.P.

Sad that Mr. Floyd had to lay his life down to get the attention of the majority of our White brothers and sisters to see that the police do this all of the time to us and all we want is our fair shake that we're owed as Americans.

As soon as the judge started rambling I already knew what time it was. :smh:

There are cats in prison for 20+ years for possession of some green, and this dude gets 22.5 years? FOH! I’m glad he’ll be behind bars for a long *** time, but it still feels like a half-assed sentence.

Idk what to feel. I’m used to police officers getting nothing. But at the same time I don’t think he got enough time.

It’s like we took 3 steps forward and then 2 back.

22.5 years is not enough. That said, this is a MUCH better outcome than most trials similar in nature we were seeing a few years ago. Oscar Grant's killer was released from prison 10 years ago this month, after only serving 2. For something just as egregious and horrifying - the video-captured murder of an unarmed, complicit, and powerless man.

As gross as it is to think Chauvin will be out in 22 years max, at least it's not as disrespectful and infuriating as Mehserle's sentencing and early release, or the countless other similar instances we've seen in this country. Hopefully we start seeing real justice in this country within our lifetimes.
