Who ever said that? Sonics fans were livid when they drafted him. Then they turned borderline homicidal when they picked Petro and Sene in the following two drafts.

Agreed 10000%. Wasting first round picks drafting tall bums like Robert Swift, Yohan Petro and Sear Sene (not only did we draft ANOTHER project center with the 10th pick we didn't even bring him from the Senegal....wasted pick of the highest order) for three successive years were the reason why the City stopped really supporting the team, no way you could justify spending your hard earned money to watch them when management clearly weren't trying to put together a winning team. Our scouts were literally stealing a living.

Throw in Calvin Booth and Jerome James and the Sonics had THE worst big men in the NBA for some time.
