Its a great school, Brunswick or Newark campus? I'm a Jersey native and my mom was a Rutgers graduate. I had interest in going there and still might for grad school.

lol nah you'll be fine. Rutgers Newark is the safest part of Newark. Its surrounded by 2 other schools and theres security all over the place.

Went to Rutgers NB as a commuter student...transferred out my sophomore year though. I had a rough time comfortably balancing academics with a regular job, gym time, and a social life. I think it really depends on what your priorities are and if the environment of the school suits you.

**It's definitely a good place to chill if you've got some friends over there though lol

I have friends who go there. Some liked it some don't. I know that my friend's sister that's a frosh there now hates it.

I don't go there, but I live 10 mins away.

1. Grease trucks are disgusting unless you are very drunk or high
2. A lot of good parties with girls who are always DTF
3. I'm not sure about their academics
4. Stay away from Newark...you don't want to be there.

The problem with their school is that for the last twenty years or so they've been funneling money away from the academics program and putting it into the sports programs.  Yet to this very day their football program is running at a deficit after some success.  They've dropped dramatically in US rankings compared to what they use to be.  So essentially, unless you're getting a full ride, it's probably not worth it.  I read a book on this actually, forgot the name of it.  This book actually made me despise D1 sports scholarships and this idea of them being essentially a semi pro league, where many times the student athletes aren't up to par academically to be admitted or to stay on par at said school, nor do they actually finish the school even if they don't make it professionally. 

But then again that's a whole other topic at hand, sorry for drifting away from the topic.

Forgot to mention, my brother graduated from Rutgers. He majored in criminal justice but his job has nothing to do in that field. He did get a good job, though. Met the owner because they were in the same frat.

Grease Trucks > Life
Drunk Girls on Easton Ave on a Thursday Night (Its called slutgers for a reason)> Life
New Brunswick Nightlife> All of NJ except AC and Hoboken
Parking= complete nightmare
Academics= middle of the pack state school
Rutgersfest= RIP

Also, New Brunswick is one of the best "food towns" that I've been to outside of major cities.
