That is the argument though.  Saying "oh im an idiot" or "did you hear that guy call that other guy an idiot" that's not offensive.  Saying "you are an idiot" is offensive.

But Dr. Laura never said "you are a N___".

I think she is really stupid for saying it.  She should have seen this backlash coming. But not necessarily a racist for the context she said it in.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you are the only one arguing. You called me an idiot because I stated my opinion. All I did was simply wrote what I felt about the situation. Thank you, most everyone here is missing the point.  Dr. Laura implied and Palin came outright and said that her first amendment rights were violoated.  They most certainly were not...she can say what she wants...those disagreeing with her can also.  You can't complain about your first amendment rights being taken away, just because your critics exercise those same rights in disagreeing with you.

Lastly, saying she is correct in saying the N-word just because she sees and hears SOME black people use it is an poor excuse for spouting a word many find harshly offensive.  She MAY have had a point if the caller was using it (not really), but she immediately assumed she could pop off because the caller was black.  I've heard someone of every race say a derogatory term for their race...I wouldn't DARE use any of those words because of that fact.
