Ok Niketalk Im getting ready for college and debating over a Netbook with a Nvidia Ion and the biggest harddrive I can find on one or a regular sized laptop. Then my mother suggest's a mac cause thats what her boyfriends daughters use.

I used Leopard for a week(Literaly forced myself) on my computer(hackintosh) and I didnt see the appeal as a desktop. It didnt stick with me because I couldntplay my games on it.

But how is it as a laptop? Is it better then a windows laptop? What Advantages does it have over Windows and By Windows I mean Windows 7?

So Really how does

++@% PCs.

I'm never going back.

I tried using my sister's HP the other day and they keep asking me to update my Norton Anti-virus. I couldn't even close the window.

Get a Mac...trust me.

I've had a mac since Dec and it's the best purchase I've ever made. I don't think I'd ever go back to using a PC again. It depends onpersonal preference and what you're using your computer for but Macs are more user friendly imo.

Macs are not worth the premium

Apples and oranges really. The only people who need to compare or diss one or the other are people who don't know what the heck they're talking about.

I don't really see a reason to switch to OS X if you're content with Windows (7). I mean, especially for gaming purposes, I'm assuming most of thegood games are exclusive to Windows.

I'm only using OS X now because I'm playing around with the iPhone SDK. I only use Linux because it's better as a web dev environment.

Can someone please state reasons like

Advtanges and disadvantages not just saying I like it or not please(sorry if that came off rude)

the desktop is basically the same thing as the laptop, only with a slightly faster processor. their iMac use laptop parts. and if it's games you want toplay, might as well get a windows laptop, or get a macbook and install windows as dual boot or with VMware/parallels. i've owned 3 MBs (1 G4 iBook and 2macbook pros) and i've never had problems with their OS. it's reliable, simple to use and looks a lot better than any windows machine i've used(although windows 7 seems like it'll be awesome)

Definitely, the right-out-of-the-box experience for a Mac is a lot better. It's an elegant, simpler solution. I'd say though, for aregular user, Macs really might be the way to go. Just isn't for me.

Question outside of browser and documents what functions make stand out above a windows laptop?

Macs dont get viruses...

it really is quite simple to use... like incredibly simple to use... you'll appreciate the simplicity

macs get viruses/malware/trojans. it isn't as frequent as windows but they get them. and with their OS share going up, it won't be long until morestart appearing.

Yes they do. Just not as much viruses out for macs as opposed to windows since apple only holds about 5% of the market. for the price of a MBP youcan get a nice dell gaming laptop.

I might as well get a Windows 7 laptop cause I cant find any reason why I should choose a Mac over it?

Virus I have never gotten any due to the fact I don't click around porn sites

Simplicity doesn't mean much when you go accustomed to a OS AND HAVE COMPUTER SKILLS

Word. I really don't think you have any reason to buy a MacBook instead of a laptop that can run Windows 7. If you're not a total noob and know how touse Windows properly (and not click on dumb stuff), why switch?
To me, it's like people telling you to drive an auto because the car does everything for you and you don't have to switch gears manually.. but ifyou're good at driving manual, why in the world would you switch?

really? all the reviews i've read never mentioned that

yeah, heard a lot of people complaining about it over at engadget. and that only 2 USB ports.. but nothing a USB hub can't fix.

For the price of a Mac you can get a netbook and a very nice Windows based laptop and still have money left over

IMO Macs = Longevity and friendlier UI

But I'm a PC person
