Liz Claireborne bought ENYCE in 2003 for $114 million, and the Sean John company purchased this brand for $20 million, thats a great business deal.

Of the deal Combs said:

"Enyce is a brand that I have always admired, and they have been a very important player in the young men's sportswear arena for over a decade. I am really excited to bring it into our portfolio of brands that already includes Sean John and Zac Posen. Given our track record of success in marketing products such as Ciroc Vodka, Unforgivable by Sean John, and all of our television titles, I look forward to adding our expertise to an already hot fashion line. Our long-term plan is to grow the Enyce brand through innovative marketing, expansion of the menswear and boy's lines, and launching into new licensing categories. The current economic climate may be challenging, but we believe it is also an opportunity, and we are really excited to add Enyce to our lineup.

Liz Claireborne Inc said in a statement that they can not give the proper attention to the brand. I think they tried to jump on the urban apparel bandwagon back in 2003 and failed because its not what they do. In a time where other companies are not closing down or not making much investments, I'm happy that Diddy is stepping up and resume's business as usual.

That is not a deal. The brand is clearly doing horrible. Who rocks Enyce now a days?

what a steal

Great investment.

Enyce still has brand recognition and it will continue to do so for years.

It survived the Fubu, Mecca, PNB era of early commerical Urban Wear and has emerged as a solid name in the fashion game.

Don't know what the hell Liz Clairebourne was thinking with that initial purchase...but dudes like Jay and Puff have the business smarts and urban insightto find these type of deals at the right price and really turn them into profitable ventures.

Enyce probably clears a good 5-7 million a year. They are in all of the big Urban fashion chain stores

With a little retooling of the brand...he can recoup that money in 2-3 years.

Thats why these dudes are creeping up on Billionaire status and so many of us are living check to check chasing "the cool"....Its about the bottomline not image.

I would be very surprised if that were the case, very very very surprised.

I still have an Enyce polo that I wear on occasion. Nobody's made fun of me yet so I guess it's still a relevant brand

Profits for the brand have been falling recently...but here is the kind of earnings potential and brand recognition that the brand hashad....

Enyce is an American mark of clothing creates in 1996 by Evan Davis, Lando Felix and Tony Shellman. Enyce decides Eh-Born-Chay inreference to the anglophone phonetics of the intiales of New York City : N.Y.C . In 5 years, the mark increased its profits from 6 to 65million dollars. It also diversified its lines of clothing by creating models for women under the name of Lady Enyce and Enyce today became a markrecognized in the American rap mediums.

Claireborn didnt' pay over a 100 million for nothing....Encye was an earner and it can easily get back there...especially with Puff behind the label.

I have a couple of button ups I still keep in rotation. Nothing with the logo everywhere or anything like that though.

I do question why so many people down urban designers now a days and praise the high end designers when they don't want u wearing their clothes anyways.Complete mystery to me...

all he gotta do is threaten wayne or kanye. get em to rock it in public in couple times and he's good.

When Diddy revamps the line and people start rocking it again I don't want to hear %%$$ form you dorks.

Play chess not checkers idiots

Peeped this a few hours ago on WSHH. I seriously think he's gonna shed new light on Enyce. Sean John is

But y'all forget about Global sales (China, Europe, etc) and Lady Enyce.

I don't know what the exact numbers look like but this looks like a great deal to me.
