GARY, Ind. (WLS) -- Darren Deon Vann, 43, is believed to be behind the murders of seven women in northwest Indiana.

Vann is a sex offender who moved to Gary, Indiana, from Austin, Texas, in 2004, according to sources. Vann confessed to the murder of Afrikka Hardy, 19, whose body was found at 9:30 p.m. at a Motel 6 in the 3800-block of 179th Street in Hammond, police said. An autopsy determined she had been strangled.

During the confession, Vann led police to discover the bodies of three other women found in abandoned homes in Gary, Ind., late Saturday night.

Charges are pending.

SMH... My dad's side of the family is from Gary (everyone is alright.) Glad they caught the dude.
