If it was on Netflix, it would be bigger than Squid Game. Think it being on Apple TV hurt its impact.

If Severance was on cable TV or netflix it would be getting Mr. Robot type hype.
It being on Apple TV+ has it just moving by word of mouth with recognition less than Amazon's/Sam Esmail's Homecoming.
I know they still establishing themselves as a streamer with a quality foundation but they need bigger hits or better exclusive movies.
