All in all, looks ok. I like Ritchie's work, Downey is a pimp and is always clever and funny with his dialogue, so I'll give it a look.

this looks nothing like Sherlock Holmes... back in MS, i read all the Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (it was like a 1,000 pg anthology) andthis is not how i would have imagined a Sherlock Holmes movie at ALL. looks like they made it into some action film..

In the books Sherlock Holmes is calm and collected, not quirky and lame.

They've upped the physicality and humor but I feel that's its been more or less kept in line with the personalities of the characters. There's plenty of slapstick comedy in the stories, especially combined with Holmes' acerbic observations and extremely dry wit. There's TONS of intense action. Holmes knows @%@%*+@ Japanese wrestling and regularly engages in fist, club and gun fights. He beats people up with a riding crop. He brains people with his cane. When some massive bodybuilder type bends an iron poker almost in half to try and intimidate him, Holmes bends it back and waves it in his face.

i dont remember much slapstick comedy in the books.

i guess i was hoping for a more serious flick with the dry wit. for those who dont know sherlock holmes definitely beats up on dudes in the books, but theaction scenes in the trailor seem goofy, unlike how i pictured the fight scenes in the books

We've had dozens of those films, hell films where Holmes is reserved nearly to the point of inaction. Of all the characters in the history of fiction Idon't think Sherlock Holmes is one that has been bastardized to the point where he needs to be "Batman Begins-ed"
