Everything on major network news is for profit and ratings

I stick to NPR for most of my news and combine that with newspaper reporting.

Not fake, but has a specific agenda and have people to report to when they don't align properly with profit.

They will focus on things that will get people to watch over what will help people understand.

Like this and every mass shooting, it's like watching Starship Troopers, highlight how many died and the carnage instead of what we need to do to heal and help each other.

What if they focused on counseling and how to not alienate people from each other instead of highlighting who the shooter is, and making him a target for the next psychopath that wants to top that record?

Quick question...and maybe you all addressed it, but does anyone remember the video clip of the concertgoer who said that a woman came up to her and said, "you're going to die tonight." Did anything come of that?
 
My personal opinion is that we need to reeducate America. People need to have better education to better grasp the world around them. We have been defunding education, the arts, and science for far too long. And at what cost? Why drive the nation into trillions in debt when the end leaves us with no good for the general public? If we had debt but everyone had equal access to education and healthcare, we might be in a much different place as a nation.

School books are vastly different from state to state. So are education programs. We need to be a smarter society in order to advance in any meaningful way.

Otherwise those with money and power will continue to prey on the have nots and the uneducated.

Invest in NASA again. Invest in the arts. Improve education and schools. When people have better understanding of the world around them, they have more respect for it and their fellow human beings.

I don't think so but I've lived in Vegas for 5 years now and if you walk around the Strip enough you're bound to hear some wild stuff like that every now and then.

Yea, that's for sure....it's just when I heard the comment initially, I thought it was the gunman's GF who was going around saying that stuff. However, it turns out she was in Australia.
 
Sheriff seemed confident that he had an accomplice somewhere along the line. Scary to think that there's someone on the loose with similar artillery, including explosives.

The shooter cased another music festival a week before.

The more I hear, the more I'm surprised the fatality count wasn't higher.
 
Are there glass-break detectors in hotels? I know it took authorities a minute to find the room on the 32nd floor, but if a window breaks, shouldn't there be something to alert the staff as to which room?

Let's just go ahead and stigmatize a class of medications that help millions of people function in civilized society without consequence.

I need to see pictures of him in the hotel taking bags to his room. They gotta have some footage of him walking with his bags. Don't they usually post pictures of suspects to try to get information from the public about their possible interactions with dude? I remember during the boston shooting, they eventually released footage of the dude walking with the bomb in a bag to try to get info from the public to determine his movements.

I'm sure they'll release CCTV stills when it's safe. Sounds like they're still looking into the possibility of an accomplice.
