Should I attend?

Ok folks here's the story.

So as you can see in my sig I am a Caribbean American. At my school (U Pitt anyone?) there is a Caribbean student association. There is a general body meeting coming up but the thing is since the very first meeting it's leader and I immediately bumped heads (admittedly over something very stupid). And since then every meeting has left me feeling uncomfortable and unwanted. But the thing is even though the leader and I have our issues I'd like to not only smooth them over I'd like to actually get involved. Should I still go and risk persecution (all my Caribbean NTers you know how vicious caribbean women can be) or just skip and be happy chilling with my friends instead?

I'm technically already in it (my name is still on the group mailing list) it's just that I haven't really connected with my own people at U Pitt and I'd like for that to change.

I just don't want to deal with a vindictive president.
